To begin with the Spartans abused their children. In the Background Essay it states “A Spartiate’s son was nurtured by his parents only until he was seven years old.” The boys were taken from their families because they had to go to military training. The boys went into an agoge which is a state controlled education central place. The boys were put into troops and they mainly focused on obedience, bodily fitness and courage to fight in battles. In the troops the boys formed stronger relationships with the other boys than in their families. The boys grew up in the agoge and came back when he was done with his twenty-first year.
It’s true that there are a lot of weaknesses, but there are some strengths. The Spartans had a very well trained military. The boys left their families early, and they did train very well. The boys focused on their fitness and they did last a long war, preventing the Persians from getting to their home town. However I still think that Sparta’s weaknesses outweigh the strengths with the information that was
