Speaker For The Dead written by: Orson Scottcard
My Depart
By: Ender Wiggin
The time has come for me to go
To leave this place I have called home
It's beautiful snowy landscape of mountains and seas where the cold of the climate is outdone only by the warmth of togetherness
It will soon be but a memory
the thought of abandoning my beloved Valentine for whom I care for like no other forces me to remember a pain I have not felt for a long time
but I must depart for those I have wronged to give them a chance at the life which I blindly took from them
Poetic Devices:
Simile, Imagery, Line break, Stanza break
Context:
Ender has to leave his home, Trondheim, in order to help the hive queen start a new life. Before this novel ender unknowingly wiped out the bugger race and promised to give the hive queen life again. When Ender leaves, he is leaving not only his home, but all the memories he has built here along with his loving sister Valentine.
Analyzation:
In this poem I tried to portray the sadness Ender was feeling to leave his life but also the sense of duty he felt to the hive queen. I used Stanza break to highlight those feelings separately. I used imagery in describing Trondheim so that the reader could get a sense of what he is leaving.

you have won them all but I will remain enduring from your coercion
what is your intent do you think to be father for he has since past
