Task 2 Describe how current legislation impacts on the provision of special needs education in Ireland.
The primary legislation affecting Special Needs education in Ireland, is as follows:
Data Protection Acts 1988, 1998 and 2003 – These acts are designed to protect an individual's privacy. The Acts confer rights on individuals in relation to the privacy of their personal data as well as responsibilities on those persons holding and processing such data.
The Childcare Act 1991 – This act outlines the promotion of welfare of children and the protection of children who are at risk of abuse or neglect.
