SPEECH
You are the president of the robotic Club in your school. You would like to present a speech entitled:
‘Keeping Robot Pet Is More Practical than Raising Real Pets’ at school assembly and compare the two types of pets.

Good Morning to the Principal , teachers and fellow students. My name is Rose Benitar and as the president of the Robotics Club, I would like to present a speech entitled ‘Keeping Robot Pets Is More Practical than Raising Real Pets’.

I am sure many of you have pets. In this day and age , people keep all kinds of pets, including domesticated animals, exotic animals, artificial pets and even virtual pets. Keeping pets offers us a form of relaxation and construct means of escapism.

While most people are used to keeping live animals as pets, I would like to propose a more practical alternative: robotic pets. Traditional pet require a lot devotion, effort and time ; things which are lacking, especially in this demanding day and age. We are all busy people. It would be cruel if we were cruel if we were to keep live pets only to end up neglecting them.

Alternatively, if we were to keep robot pets, we can be free from many cumbersome burdens yet to enjoy the experience of having a pet. Robot pets need not be fed. Robot pets need not be fed. They run on batteries or solar cells and all we need to do is either replace the batteries or recharge them. Cybernetic pets not require grooming or regular visits to the vet. They also do not mess up the place. This will save us the hassle of training our pets or sending them for house-training schools. Some of the latest innovations in robot pet technology include with pets that can intelligently interact with their owners in many ways; including

Asides from causing human social dysfunction, the robots are neither safer nor more reliable compared to human resources, which is totally opposite to most people’s common sense. One extreme case is that a women bought a robot to substitute for her boyfriend because she believes the machine is safer and will never betray her (Turkle, 2012). The main reason why she abandoned human boyfriend is the eager for “no-risk relationship” (Turkle, 2012). However, does this machine which always obeys her order and never has different thoughts really give her boyfriend-like care? The technology of human replacement robots is not advanced enough and still limited by huge barriers. For example, a kind of robot works as an alternative role to those disabled students who have problems attend classroom, can’t guarantee receiving perfect wireless signal when moving in the campus (Brown, 2013).…

Hot electrical wires under a cold, metal shell versus blood- flowing veins beneath a warm, furry skin. Robotic pets are replacing true, loving emotions with computer programmed actions. Robots make human lives easier, like what could happen in a science fiction movie. Just following three simple steps on the instruction manual could change lives dramatically. For example, humans are gradually moving towards social isolation, lack of responsibility, and loneliness. Robotic machines have many negative outcomes. Therefore, they should not get to replace the relationship between humans and their pets.…

Robots with artificial intelligence teaching students in the classroom is something that may seem to some like a science fiction fantasy, but the reality of the matter is that robotic helpers, teachers, and playmates are part of a booming technology that has already started flourishing in other countries. Articles from the New York Times have informed us on the hundreds of robots South Korea has already hired to assist teachers, and teach certain subjects on their own (Benedict Carey and John Markoff Students, Meet Your New Teacher, Mr. Robot Para 10). The robots they use are usually computer screened faces with bodies that have arms and legs, allowing them to be entirely mobile on their own. The robots use motion tracking and speech recognition to act human like. This makes them able to engage people in conversation, play games, complete simple tasks, and teach simple skills to others (Carey and Markoff Para 8). Adam Sneed, a researcher for The Future Tense Program explains in his article Coming Soon to a Kindergarten Classroom: Robot Teachers how robots give realistic…
