I. Attention Getting Device: According to Craig Anderson PhD from the
American Psychological Association states that 97% of 12-17 year olds played video games in 2008. In 2008 10 of the top 20 video games contained violence, also stated by Craig Anderson. According to my own research today of the top ten video games five are rated mature, two have rates pending, two are rated teen and only one is rated ten and up.
II. Thesis: It is important for youth to play video games that are suitable for their age groups and developmental stage.
III. Credibility: I’m not that old now, but when I was younger I played video games a lot with my older brother and whether we know it or not even the video games that we play affect our lives.
IV. Preview: Video games are for the most part just entertainment, but if the games are inappropriate for whoever is playing them than they can have a negative impact. Youth, children from ages 5-12, playing violent video games increases aggressive behavior and has physical effects. This affect on youth most notably behavior is, because of growing desensitization to violence. Most people deny the effects of violent video games, because they can be hard to see.

I According to research done by Brad Bushman PhD. playing violent video games increases aggressive behavior, especially on the youth.
A. Playing violent video games causes the development of aggressive behavioral references.
B. These behavioral references are created by the repetition of violent acts and they become engrained in the subconscious mind.
C. With the creation of the negative behavioral references when youth react in a situation their behavior will be negative.
Transition: Violent video games cause youth to create negative behavior references. The negative behavior can also be because of desensitization that occurs when youth play violent video games.

V. Desensitization is another problem that violent video games cause in youth
