After having a job interview or an important talk with a friend, do you ever ask yourself “why did I shake his hand” or “I should have spoken more clearly and slowed down?” After watching Amy Cuddy Your body language shapes who you are, I believe the main purpose of the speech was to teach people a valuable tool while interacting with others. She emphasizes a lot about the way you present yourself and even the choice of posture you choose. While interacting with others, people gather personal opinions of you when they are observing and analyzing who you are. Thus being said a lot of the strategies she teaches you seem to work and are also backed up by real data. One of the things Cuddy teaches is that Power posing can make you feel more confident and better about yourself. When you think about what she is saying it starts to make sense because, think about what types of postures you make after you win a football game or a hand at poker? Correct, you throw your arms up in the air and let out a loud victory cry at the same time! So in essence power posing are the types of poses you make whenever you get a sudden burst of confidence or high emotions at once. Cuddy leads us to learn that 86% percent of people of people who strike a power pose will have a higher chance of wanting to gamble. She also states that while in the power pose, men’s testosterone levels will increase by 20%. This being said, power posing is a confidence booster and definitely something to through into your regiment to increase your desire to achieve higher. Another tool one could take away from this speech is that changing the small things can always lead to bigger outcomes. One commonly found example would be that when people make Dailey schedules and plan accordingly they have less stress, and are more likely to be ready to achieve more and be successful. When making small changes in someone’s life, they can either decide to make good changes or bad changes. If

Talcott Parsons saw socialization as the process through which, individuals developed and internalized a sense of norms and values. Parsons theorized that there were three stages of socialization, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. After one has gone through these stages of development, an individual may go through a re-socialization process, and this happens in different stages through life, for example; they retire, become unemployed or institutionalized. Parsons noted that each stage of socialization had its’ own way of helping an individual internalize social norms and values.…

Each and every one of us, at some point and time will start wondering and thinking about what we would want to be, where we will end up and what our purpose in life is. I personally started thinking about my future career when I was a freshman in highschool, but my interest and choice of careers/majors has changed throughout the year as I learn and explore more about myself and what I am interested in. As a freshman in highschool, I have always wanted to be a cardiovascular doctor. In 10th grade, I discovered that cardiovascular is not something I would be interested in after taking biology. Then, I thought being pharmacist would be something I would enjoy and be good at, because I was taking general chemistry at the time and I became interested and thought it would be good if I build my future career on something that I would enjoy and like. My search for what I want to do didn’t stop here, I changed my mind again after taking standard level IB(International Baccalaureate) chemistry my senior year, this led me to remain undecided for a while. After taking the focus 2 assessment, I came to know that I am an investigative, social and realistic kind of person who likes to solve problems and puzzles and work with other people. Thus, I will investigate about two careers that involves working with people and problem solving: physician assistant and social psychology.…
