Have you ever thought about the way you want to die? I bet none of you thought to yourself, “I want to be hung, or hmmm, maybe lethal injection.” Think about if your little brother, your mom, your child, and if they had to die like this, people who are sentenced to the death penalty, are put to death like this. Connecticut lawmakers recently voted to repeal the death penalty, making it the 17th state to abandon capital punishment. I think all states should follow in Connecticut’s footsteps, I disagree with the death penalty 100%, I think that two wrongs don’t make a right, and that the death penalty is against the 8th amendment.
“Why do we kill people who kill people to show that killing people is wrong?” – Holly Near The 8th amendment states, “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.” I think that being hung or being put to death by lethal injection is pretty cruel, and unusual. We should be the ones punished for doing such a thing to a human being. I also think that two wrongs don’t make a right, just because they did some bad things, it does not mean we have to stoop to their level. I think the death penalty is wrong because it is against the 8th amendment and two wrongs don’t make a right. Think about waking up one day knowing that you will die that day, and you will suffer while doing it.
