Speech - Technological Progress Is Like an Axe in the Hands of a Pathological Criminal
Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal

GM… Everyone

Doing the right thing at the right time for the right cause develops the society. But, sometimes things are done to destory the same.

When power is misused only chaos remain. Technology is no exception for this.

We all know that we have entered into an era of modern technology and man’s work has been reduced due to the advancements in communication and production. On the other side, the world is facing a serious threat because of technology.

Any insane person can develop or use technology as a tool that would allow him to do whatever he wants. This would cause insecurity and would kill the privacy of others. Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal. Yes, Einstien was right. For a criminal to carry out his evil intensions technology is an axe in his hand. It helps him to create his path to his plans. He can simply use it however he wants to execute his plans. Be it a revenge on society, an ethinic group or the government.

This gets serious when it is done by a group. And that’s exactly the world’s concern today. These kind of people don’t understand that their wants and needs are impossible in the way that the majority had chosen to live and so these poeple try to make changes with force. Technology is the weapon they hold. Not only terrorists, but also the national armies are examples of such groups. A nation’s army destabilising another nation’s defence system with a virus is in no way different from a terrorist attack. This can cause war b/w the countries. When such is the situation, we are already in the threat of becoming a victim of a technology powered destruction like nuclear war or a bio war. These two are the most predicted version of the world war 3. Nuclear research has gone far enough to destroy an entire city with a press on a button. Nuclear tensions have subsided considerably since the end of the Cold War.

Then there is the bad side of technology (although some would argue that computers and DVD's are the bad side): chemical warfare, weapons of mass destruction and so on. Why do people create such things? I suppose the answer is greed. As a perfect example we have Saddam Hussein. He kills and suppresses his own people presumably because of greed) and then openly 'defies' America (I say sarcastically).…

In this modern world, many people can’t survive without the aid of modern technology. Do you remember when people used to send messages through the use of the “pony express”? Or when people used to get up from their couch to change the channel of the television? I can’t imagine how people could live without modern technologies such as cell phones, internet, and many more. Technology today has made life easier and quicker but dangerous. As we look at technologies, questions are raised. By the way what are technologies? Modern technology is machinery that makes life easier. For example, microwave ovens cook food easily without using stoves and making a big mess. Today modern technology also has created problems because they are dangerous. How is technology dangerous? The answer to this question is very simple. There's lots of incident where there is malfunction in technology. For example, if there is a problem with a car than the car won't be able to run, or if there is a technical mistake in the car that the car would dysfunction and this could lead to a crash. Nowadays, when the rapidness of development and research is so impressive, it is easy to think about the advantages of modern technology. Nevertheless some people argue that science can destroy mankind. It is also obvious that we are close on an era where technology is limited only by our imagination. As time passes, more and more new technologies will develop for the purpose of the survival of man but the most frequently asked question is: Does technology go the right way and will it save or ruin our civilization? Do you think modern technology has made life easier and safer? Or do you think that modern technology has made life more difficult and more dangerous?…

The human species' use of technology began with the conversion of natural resources into simple tools. The prehistorical discovery of the ability to control fire increased the available sources of food and the invention of the wheel helped humans in travelling in and controlling their environment. Recent technological developments, including the printing press, the telephone, and the Internet, have lessened physical barriers to communication and allowed humans to interact freely on a global scale. However, not all technology has been used for peaceful purposes; the development of weapons of ever-increasing destructive power has progressed throughout history, from clubs to nuclear weapons.…

Technology can be defined as a body of knowledge used to create tools, develop skills, and extract or collect materials; the application of science (the combination of the scientific method and material) to meet an objective or solve a problem. In other words the application of scientific advances to benefit humanity. It influences minds in good and bad ways, and it allows people to share information which they would otherwise not be able to attain. Even if a person does not own a computer or have credit cards, there is information on a computer somewhere about everyone. Technology itself is not being generated but a few creative minds who are innovative in nature creates technology or useful knowledge. So they become masters of technology which is diffused across the world on the basis of the popularity of that technology. So we could see problem indeed as a majority of human becoming slaves to a minority who creates technology for a particular purpose say to solve a problem effectively with the support of technology. On the whole overuse of technology without knowing the purpose for which it is being developed we human become slaves to technology.
