Spoiled Brats, By Simon Rich
I was able to make a comparison between this news article and the story “Spoiled Brats,” by Simon Rich. Both mention the issues of enclosed animals and the neglect the animals face on a regular basis. In the story by Simon Rich, a school pet hamster, Princess Jasmine, is being neglected by the students put in charge of taking care of him. The teacher makes a draw to see who will be taking care of and feeding the hamster for the time being. Princess Jasmine is devastated to see that Simon, one of the children, was picked for this assignment. He neglected to feed and give water to the hamster and his family. Of course, Princess Jasmine was worried that they would soon starve due to the children’s unwillingness to take care of them. In the news

Black Boy is an autobiography of Richard Wright who grew up in the backwoods of Mississippi. He lived in poverty, hunger, fear, and hatred. He lied, stole, and had rage towards those around him; at six he was a "drunkard," hanging about in taverns. He was surrounded on one side by whites who were either indifferent to him, pitying, or cruel, and on the other by blacks who resented anyone trying to rise above the common people who were slaves or struggling.…

Throughout America’s communities today, the quality of schooling varies from school to school. In the book Our Kids the author, Robert Putnam, believes that the increased gap between the wealthy and poor is what causes the differences in school quality and opportunities for the students (Putnam, 2015). Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing two of today’s youth, Josh and Erin. Their names have been changed for the sake of anonymity. Conflict is a typical and natural aspect of any human relationship. Conflicts could arise between strangers or even the people we are closest with. Conflicts within families are dreadful because you are fighting with the people you love most. In the play, Leaving Home written by David French, the author presents many conflicts between Jacob (the father), and Ben (the oldest son). In the controversial debate of who is responsible for the problems present, my opinion is that Ben leaving home is primarily the fault of his father; Jacob. Jacob is to blame because in the play, we have learnt that he has many negative characteristics which clash with Ben’s personality, Jacob’s past and bad habits also raise conflicts, and lastly, Jacob’s frame of…
