I searched for “concussions in college football.” I used sportdiscus for my database. I chose this study over other because based on the title, I thought that the information would be useful, as well as interesting to read based on my topic. The reference for this article is as follows:

The authors feel though that it also important to assess the reporting of concussions from student-athletes.

The authors wanted to find out why student athletes fail to report concussions to their coaches/teachers/parents. They wanted to find the percentage of college student athletes who have reported their concussion or a teammate’s concussion. The authors also wanted to explore why college student athletes do not report their concussion or their teammate’s suspected concussion, and they also wanted to determine what variables affect whether or not the student athletes report their concussions, such as grade level and type of sport they play.

If the participants decided to do the survey, by clicking start they were giving their consent for participating. The participants were kept anonymous, but as a group were encouraged to take the survey by their coaches. Those who did not participant would not receive punishment from their coaches, and those who did report would not have any consequences if they reported sustaining a concussion and not reporting it. There were no direct tests done to the participants, all the information collected was based off of the participants own experiences.
10. What questions might you ask the researcher if you were able to discuss the study with them?
I would like to know if the authors have any plans on doing this study again at different universities. They even stated that one of the limitations to this study was only doing it at one university with a restricted sample size, which in turn created a sampling
