The Declaration Of Independence Vs. Moral of Christian Charity
The Declaration of Independence is the foundation of the United States of America written in worlds. The language of the declaration relates to John Winthrop’s, Moral of Christian Charity. Winthrop and the Founding fathers both use language to unite people, and to build a community around them. Thomas Jefferson wrote the original copy of the Declaration of Independence. In Jefferson`s first draft, the first paragraph says, “When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for a people to advance from that subordination in which they have hitherto remained, & to assume among the powers of the earth the equal & independent station to which the laws of nature & of nature's god entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the change”. In this he says to advance from subordination, or to split from the British control by a form of a revolution. In Jefferson`s original copy, there is no mention of providence, or that God is looking out for America. Also Jefferson says, that with Britain overpowering America, this may lead to the poor citizens? People? wanting to overthrow the government and the wealthy.
The edit of Jefferson`s original draft was done by Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams. In the Edited versions, they do not make many changes, but the ones they do make change the language of the Decleration In the first paragraph, Jefferson writes “to advance from that subordination in which they have hitherto remained”, Adams and Franklin change this to say “it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another”. The people will know that we are not completely abandoning the British, but wanting to start our own government with our own taxes and laws. Another big change is the last sentence of the Declaration, Jefferson`s original says
