From football, to basketball, sports tend to have a pretty big influence on our society. Recently the use of performance enhancing drugs has become a worldwide problem that needs to be dealt with. The use of performance enhancing drugs affects almost every facet of the sports culture. These drugs also cause problems such as controversy about their use among well known players such as Barry Bonds, and accusations of cheating. Questions arise about whether these drugs should be allowed in sports. Although the opposition states performance enhancing drugs are common and should be allowed in sports, The reality is that the use of performance enhancing drugs should not be allowed in sports, because it affects sports as a whole, the athletes, and the fans. Many people believe that the use of performance enhancing drugs make sports boring to watch because performance enhancing drugs take the competition out of sports. Theoretically almost every major league team should be almost evenly matched with other teams around the league. Cheating is almost as old as sports themselves, but most people that choose to cheat get labeled a bad sport. There are many rules in sports that discourage the utilizing of any unfair advantage that is discovered. Players can actually get removed from a team if they are convicted of breaking the rules the game. They can also end up getting removed from the hall of fame if they are convicted of using performance enhancing drugs. Some people believe that the future of entire sports franchises can be impacted by the use of steroids, even if they are illegal, or legal within that sport. The use of these drugs can make it difficult to determine if a sports record was broken legitimately. This is especially true with drugs that are hard to detect. The use of performance enhancing drugs is quite a problem. Problems with these drugs can cause altercations among players, and even lead to fights over claims of unfair competition. This causes problems in the sports world which depends on the ability of players to get along well enough to play a game. It can even cause problems in a teams locker own locker room. Injuries among the payers become more common as they find themselves going up against unevenly matched opponents. Steroids cause immediate health affects that can actually end up hampering the players performance such as aggression. They also cause health issues later on in life such as weight gain, other problems. In most sports a player that is convicted of using any of these drugs has all their records stripped, like what happened Lance Armstrong. Another problem is that when a player stops taking performance enhancing drugs it can have consequences. The author of Cheating and CHEATING, Joe Posnanski, claims that a baseball insider told him about a layer that did well and then fell off saying: “ He just didn't have the same spark.”There are people who endorse steroids. Some doctors and promoters of steroid use claim that steroid use leads to increased performance, but the problem is that they can lead to bad health problems later on in life. Players have the main role in sports, and the issue of performance enhancing drugs affects them way more than anyone else associated with sports. Quite a few of these fans are inspired by their sports heroes, who some people view as their role model, so the use of performance enhancing drugs could end up negatively influencing sports fans. Many fans claim that steroid use ends up ruining the competition in sports. It also cause controversy among the fans over whether a particular player is cheating or not. These problems make sports less enjoyable for the crowds to watch. The use of performance enhancing drugs can result in a loss of fans due to bad publicity, and may also cause aspiring players ton turn to these drugs to help and give them a competitive advantage of their competition. This increases the problem, and causes the problem to start all over again. A few people claim that the fans should ignore the use of performance enhancing drugs, and claim that competition is not ruined by these drugs because sports all come down to skill. What they don't realize is that strength does give a player an advantage over the competition, and they also don't comprehend how easily the fans are influenced by their heroes. Performance enhancing drugs affect the fans almost as much as the players themselves, because they look up to these figures as role models. Sports will continue to inspire people around the world, and will remain an icon of positivity throughout the world. They are one of the main outlets that lets people connect, and share something in common throughout the world. Sports are a big influence and goal of many the future generations of children and young adults that will attend school. That is why the players, the fans, and the sporting establishment should continue to deter the use of performance drugs. This allows sports to remain fair for people around the world to enjoy. The use of performance enhancing drugs degrades the future of sports and makes them less enjoyable for younger generations. Steroids should not become a requirement for those who play sports, because I still remember when real athletic skill made sports fun to participate in and watch.
