Injuries suffered in sports impact millions of players each year. The very essence of many sporting games demands physical contact which often result in powerful hits to the head and body. The impact sports injuries have on the ways the game is managed includes a responsibility by the coaches, first aid responders and child protection services to help ensure that safety measures are being followed within the game. These governing bodies represent the line of defense that ensures players receive proper treatment for their injuries, are aware of the rules, understand the equipment and are educated about any new technology.
