Sports Lawyers Should Be Illegal

It is hard to know what exactly to do in any situation that is illegal, even in the sporting realm. As a society we tend to look at any athlete, no matter what league they are in; from college, minor league and major leagues, as if they get anything and everything they want. Almost as if they are invisible to any crimes and believe that because they are in the public eye, it means they can get out of it. One should believe that athletes are just like the rest of us and should be punished like we would be if we would happen to be in any sort of trouble. Athletes also believe that just because they have done something wrong, no matter the crime that it can be swept under the rug, so to speak. Sports Law revolves around more than one spectrum of law, then just defending athletes. The most common issues that sports lawyers are educated to deal with properly are contracts, antitrust and tort (Cornell). There are lawyers for each type of sports team out in the world such as amateur, professional and international sport leagues. As you can see sport lawyers are not trained in the usual crime or drug cases. These lawyers are trained to deal with looking over contracts, breach in contracts, moneys issues and of course cheating within the sports realm. They are to give them legal advice and push for justice. Lawyers are supposed to be totally honest and are legally obligated to help if hired. They should respect any type of case that may come their way, not brush it under the rug and try to make it disappear. Lawyers who are outside of the sports realm are more respectful of their client’s needs and are more willing to make sure that their client’s win fairly , whether it happens to become public or
