It was the last 30 seconds of the final of the world cup, the king of all matches; Spain was leading with an outstanding goal, but was under a lot of defensive pressure, suddenly the ball is lobbed over to Roben, the star of the Duch, he controls the ball and fires an explosive shot into the back of the net. This was victory for sure everyone was ecstatic; this excited state was soon to fade away once they hear the dreadful call of an offside from the referee.
The debate about the need for video technology and replays in football will not elapse without a straight decision, with every offside goal scored, every incorrect call on the goal line and every dive that wins a penalty, the clamor grows stronger, and stronger, this is a debate that divides opinion into many slices, those who support the full introduction of video technology, those who just want a section of it and those who totally deny its inauguration into football. There have been polls and voting all over the football globe but still 60% of people support it fully without a drop of doubt, fear or hesitation. So why shouldn’t it be introduced? Why? Just because the governing bodies don’t accept it, what about what the fans believe. Without fans there is no football, the fans are the fuel and heart of football they live for it support it everyday like family shout for it, cry for it, peoples lives could change after just one match, one goal, one mistake.
Technology is and has always been the basis of improvement in society as a whole from communication to discovery and living, it has always helped and improved. UEFA president Michel Platini quotes
