Squeaky In Raymond's Run
In the story “Raymond's run”, the character goes from being self centered to helping her brother and be willing to help other people. In the beginning of the story squeaky is a girl, who is a very fast runner, but she is also self centered. At the end of the short story she is less self centered and Offers to help train her little brother. She also discovers winning isn't everything and she should help others

In the beginning squeaky explains that she helps out her little brother because he is special. She also runs the 50 yard dash, because she is a fast runner. Running is also very important to her, her dad knows this and he is the only person that beats her in a race. She takes care of her brother because he is “special”. She also mentions she does not like Cynthia Proctor because she acts like she does not have to study or practice for anything. Squeaky also mentions she always wins when she was talking

“And it occurs to me, watching how smoothly he climbs hand over hand and remembering how he looked running with his arms down to his side and with the wind pulling his mouth back and his teeth showing and all, it occurred to me that Raymond would make a very fine runner. Doesn’t he always keep up with me on my trots?”. She also trains him because she believes in her brother raymond. “And he surely knows how to breathe in counts of seven cause he’s always doing it at the dinner table, which drives my brother George up the wall.”
