AM signals are demodulated by a squaring device followed by a ideal low-pass filter (LPF) and a DC blocker as shown in Figure 1. The baseband message signal is denoted as m(t). (a) Determine the expressions for signals (in time domain) at points A, B, C and D in terms of m(t). (b) Assuming A >> mp , show that y(t) yields m(t). Here, A is the amplitude of the carrier signal, mp = max|m(t)|. (c) If m(t) = 2cos(2π × 100t) + sin(2π × 150t) and carrier signal 5cos(2π × 1000t), calculate the power efficiency of this transmission. (d) For the message signal in (c), what is the lower sideband signal (LSB) in time domain? (e) For the…

Body of Work by Lupe Fiasco. Typically, a body of work is a collection of everything an artist, writer or musician has created. The song features; Saxophone solos played by Terrance Martin, Troi singing the pre-hook and hook, Lupe Fiasco slow raping the verses, and a women whispering as backup during the verses. There is a slow and softer beat throughout the song. On the surface the song seems to be about Fiasco’s relationship with rap music, but there is a far more universal message hidden as well.…

Managing change is an ideal process in organizational management and greatly helps in realization of organizational goals and objectives. In business, change insight management is analyzed by different theoretical models that are essential in business process. As a result, this paper analyzes the three basic change models theories. These are discussed as follows: The Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model, The Marvin Weisbord’s Six Model and the Linda Ackerman Anderson’s 9 Phase. The three theoretical models on change management discuss the various strategies of managing and coping with organizational change. In particular, the strengths and weakness of each model are analyzed. Further the application of each theoretical model on change management in an organizational setting is discussed.…

Calculate the modulation index and percentage of modulation of an AM signal, given the amplitudes of the carrier and modulating signals. Define overmodulation and explain how to alleviate its effects. Explain how the power in an AM signal is distributed between the carrier and the sideband, and then compute the carrier and sideband powers, given the percentage of modulation. Compute sideband frequencies, given carrier and modulating signal frequencies. Compare time-domain, frequency-domain, and phasor representations of an AM signal. Explain what is meant by the terms DSB and SSB and state the main advantages of an SSB signal over a conventional AM signal. Calculate peak envelope power (PEP), given signal voltages and load impedances.…

[1]In DSB-SC it is observed that there is symmetry in the band structure. So, even if one half is transmitted, the other half can be recovered at the received. By doing so, the bandwidth and power of transmission is reduced by half. Depending on which half of DSB-SC signal is transmitted, there are two types of SSB modulation;…

Figure 1. A sinewave signal with squarewave FM as shown on an oscilloscope (v vs. t), a spectrom analyzer (v vs. f) and a Modulation Domain Analyzer (f vs. t). These three instruments give a three dimensional view of the signal’s properties. TimeView control & analysis software running on a Windows PC TimeView is connected to the front end frequency analyzer through the PC interface. All settings and controls are accessed through the PC and stored as ASCII files that can be easily imported into various programs. Graphs can be printed on the PC’s printer. CNT-91 Frequency Analyzer The CNT-91 operates on fourth generation frequency counter technology. It incorporates state-of-the-art techniques for improving measurement accuracy. The CNT-91 uses a unique time stamping method that allows for continuous event counting – eliminating “dead time” between counts. The momentary contents of the counter are transferred to memory at regular, pacing intervals. The read out of the register content is synchronized to the input trigger, so it is the event trigger that is time stamped. Each stored time stamp is interpolated “on…

Abstract – The receivers used to list Amplitude Modulation – Double Sideband Carrier (AM-DSBC) as the simplest receivers of any radio modulation technique; which may be why that version of amplitude modulation is still widely used today [1]. Amplitude modulation techniques are well established and understood when implemented with analog circuits and in Simulink. Since amplitude modulation is one of the earliest radios’ modulation techniques, this study illustrated the small part of its larger system. It examined and modeled the process of generating amplitude-modulate using MatLab – Simulink and Multisim program with a modulating frequency (message signal) of 2Hz and a carrier frequency of 50Hz having an ideal modulation of 100%. Also, this study compared three different results of an AM signal through Matlab Code Simulink, and Multisim system. The history of generating amplitude-modulated signal will also be tackled. Lastly, this study will evaluate the disadvantages and advantages of using amplitude modulation process.…

Figure 1 shows the simulation setup for the intensity modulation - direct detection (IM-DD) Nyquist OTDM-WDM signal generation and detection. One external cavity laser (ECL) with the wavelength of 1553.60 nm was used as the light source, and its linewidth was 80 kHz. In order to suppress higher sideband, a small α=0.32 was chosen, so ϵ=-0.4191, and the frequencies of two RF drive signals were 10 GHz and 30 GHz. At the output of the first MZM (Fig.1 Point A), a flat OFC with 3 tones was generated, which would be used as the seed light source of the second MZM. The driving signal of second MZM was set to synchronize with that of the first MZM, therefore, at the output of the second MZM, a flat OFC with 9 tones was generated (Fig. 1 Point…
