Okay, first I’ll start with his childhood. Saint Joseph of Cupertino was born in 1603 in Cupertino, Italy. His parents were Felice Desa and Francesa Panara. His father was a carpenter, but died before his child’s birth. Francesa, unable to stay in her house (and pay taxes and debt), was forced to give birth to the saint in a stable. About 7 years after his birth, he had a vision. “His mother treated him harshly.” (catholic.org)
Next, his teen years! St. Joseph of Cupertino’s teen years were a bit different than his childhood. His mother apprenticed him to a shoemaker. But he wanted to apply to a monastery. So he did. He got accepted, but a few months later, he was fired. So he applied to a different one. This one accepted him, but he was put in charge of a mule/donkey.
Last but not least, his adulthood! A few years after he got accepted, he got fired. For the third time in his life, he applied to another monastery. They accepted him. Now, he was going to become a priest! But, there was something unusual about when he prayed; he floated in the air! He had an amazing devotion to Mary, and he served God in Cupertino. After many years of working in the monastery, he was moved to a different one. When there, he said prayers with a herd of sheep! “ He touched the eyes of a blind boy, and the boy saw.”( One-of-a-Kind Friends Saints and Heros for Kids)
