St. Louis Cardinals
Since 1882, the St.Louis Cardinals have been going strong. They have always had a good ball club and have won 10 World Series in the National League. That number remains the second most in the whole MLB. The Cardinals belong to the Central Division of the National League and usually stay at the top of the division.

A few of the great Hall of Fame players were Dennis Eckersley, Ozzie Smith, Bruce Sutter, Stan Musial, Roger Hornsby, Lou Brock, Bob Gibson and Cy Young. According to Baseball Almanac,”The Cy Young Award was Commissioner Ford Frick's idea to honor the best pitcher in Major League Baseball.”(Cy Young Award). The Cy Young Award, introduced in 1956, is given to the best pitcher in the National League and American League receives every season. A few of their best current players are Albert Pujols, Yadier Molina, Matt Holliday, and Adam Wainright. ` Busch Stadium is the home field of the St. Louis Cardinals. There has been 3 Busch Stadiums. It first opened on April 10, 2006. It was chosen by MLB to host the 2009 All-Star Game. Busch Stadium held its first World Series on October 24, 2006 and its first playoff game on October 7, 2006. There is three top salaries from players that stand out the most. Those players are Albert Pujols, Matt Holliday, and Chris Carpenter. Matt Holliday has the highest which is $17,000,000. Chris Carpenter has the second highest which is $15,840,971. Then it’s Albert Pujols who has a salary of $14,595,953. The St.Louis Cardinals have had many of sluggers. One of their best hitters is still on the current roster and heading for the Hall of Fame. According to Baseball Reference, ”The top five sluggers are Stan Musial, Albert Pujols, Kenn Boyer, Jim Edmonds, and Ryan Lankford.’’ Stan Musial hit 475 home runs and Albert Pujols has hit 405 and is still going strong. Ken Boyer hit 255 home runs and Jim Edmonds hit 241. Lankford is number five on the list with 228 home runs. There has been numerous records broken such as, Cy Young Winners and most hits. Chris Carpenter , Bob Gibson, and Cy Young have all won the award. The Cards have two current pitchers in the running for Cy Young which are Adam Wainright and Chris Carpenter. Roger Hornsby has had the most hits in two consecutive seasons. Mark McGwire broke the single season record for home runs but they later found out that he took steroids which are performance enhancing drugs and are illegal in
