Romeo and romantic love represented
Introduction- Introduces characters and insight to their personalities. It sets the scene for the audience so they know how it’s set and also how this could lead to a characters downfall. Sometimes it sets the themes of the play as well.
At the beginning of the play then Romeo is depressed about Rosaline because he believes he is in love with her and only wants to be with her. This shows that love can be misleading as a little later in the play Romeo forgets about Rosaline and becomes in love with Juliet.
Rising action- These are the actions that are completely out of character and can be seen as what makes the once great, noble character actually start to downfall as they do something completely incorrect.
This is when Romeo meets Juliet and becomes instantly in love with her. It shows that romantic love can be uplifting and makes people happy as that how Romeo acts when he sees Juliet. There is a vast change in his behaviour towards Juliet than there was towards Rosaline.
The Climax- The actions the characters openly make that lead to the overall downfall as with the rising action this is the character acting not like themselves, they do not usually realise they have changed and so their actions just pass them by. It has the greatest intensity in the progression to the downfall.
Romeo so soon decides he shall marry Juliet. This shows that romantic love can make people act rashly as Romeo decides in just hours of meeting her. It shows that he has forgotten about everything else and that he has forgotten about their family feud. This causes greater problems as he knows he should not marry Juliet as their families hate each other yet acts so anyway. He forgets all consequences.
Consequence- The events that occur because of the characters actions. Everything just starts to go wrong for the characters and one by one more things lead to the result at the end of the play. Usually the main consequence in a tragedy is the death of characters which have misacted throughout the play.
Romeo doesn’t get the news in time about the plan with Juliet and as he believes she is dead then he has such a passionate romantic love for her that he feels he must take his own life as he couldn’t live without her. This shows that romantic love can make people take small yet all drastic sacrifices as you just want to please the person you love the most, yet in Romeos case he just wanted to be with Juliet forever.
Conclusion- After all the deaths the dilemmas that had been created tend to be worked out, all the problems seem to go as either the characters end feuds or those characters were just the problem and so once they have gone then all other problems disappear with them.
In Romeos romantic love for Juliet he takes his life yet she also takes her as he didn’t know she was just asleep. The death of these two that happened because of the romantic love they shared, ends the feud between their two families. It just shows that the strength of their romantic love was strong enough to overcome the aggression between the families and create peace as they as adults understand the love they shared.
