Stan Lee: A Short Investigation Stan Lee is an American comic book writer who had a very influential mark on the history of comic books and in many ways shaped their future in American culture. Stan Lee is unquestionably one of the great writers of all time, creating characters that people would look at for decades. In many ways Stan Lee revolutionized the comic book industry. Stanley Martin Lieber was born in New York City on December 22, 1922. He only later changed his last name to Lee. He was born in the apartment of his parents, Jack and Celia Lieber, who were born in Romania and were Jewish. Lee’s father was trained as a dress cutter but only worked occasionally after the great depression, so his family never had very much money. Lee grew up in a one bedroom apartment. He shared a room with his brother and his parents slept on a foldout couch. Throughout Lee’s childhood he was influenced by movies and books. His favorite actor and one of his idols was Errol Flynn, an actor who often starred in heroic roles. Stan Lee was a very smart child. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School, a prestigious high school in the Bronx. While he went to school he worked such jobs as an usher at a theater, selling newspaper subscriptions and was an office boy. The jobs Lee loved the most were the ones that involved writing and reading, something he did often as a child. He wrote obituaries for newspapers and wrote press releases for the National Tuberculosis Center. Lee ended up graduating high school when he was only 16 and a half. In 1939 Stan Lee was hired at Martin Goodman’s company, eventually evolving into Marvel Comics. Lee says of his early work, “"In those days [the artists] dipped the pen in ink, so I had to make sure the inkwells were filled. I went down and got them their lunch, I did proofreading, and I erased the pencils from the finished pages for them". It wasn’t until 1941 that

Lee started his criminal escapades at a young age. He had a low IQ and found that school was difficult. Lee found interest in other things. He was caught peeping into the windows of his neighbors. It was reported that he tortured neighborhood animals, was fascinated with fire, and wet his bed; these are all characteristics of a serial killer (Layman, Gumm, and Henriques & Hodges). At thirteen, Lee was arrested for simple burglary, but it was not until he was sixteen that he really found trouble. Lee pulled a knife during a fight and was charged with attempted second-degree murder. At seventeen he was arrested for his voyeurism, which was something that would extend well into his adult life. Oswald was ambitious to make something of himself and to make himself known, so much so that when he returned to the United States he was expecting reporters to be there to cover his return. To his disappointment no one was there. Oswald was an abusive husband, and he also planned on being a political assassin. Wanting to make a mark on history, Lee bought a hand gun as well as a rifle under the name of A. Hiddle. Afterwards he plotted on killing an ex-general, Walker, but didn’t succeed when the bullet bounced away from the intended target off the glass of a window. Marina too Oswald to New Orleans hoping to calm him down and get his mind off of whatever he was thinking of. To her disappointment, he started handing out leaflets stating, “HANDS OFF CUBA!” and getting into fights with Anti-Castro Cubans and got himself arrested. After that he wanted Marina to help him…

Although some choose to accept the information given in textbooks as hard facts, history is actually a continuing process that is under constant scrutiny by a myriad of historians who have differing viewpoints, opinions and biases. This is no exception for the bloody struggle that took place around Antietam Creek on September 17, 1862. One of the most controversial aspects of the Battle of Antietam surrounds the leadership of General Ambrose Everett Burnside. Though most historians chastise Burnside for his lethargy during the battle, some praise his skill; this was caused by their backgrounds and beliefs in certain ideals. Nevertheless, historians agree unanimously that Burnside had a large impact on outcome of the Battle of Antietam.…
