Star Trek Compare And Contrast
Nothing is more powerful than the magic of a first kiss. In both of the movies Forbidden Planet and Star Trek: By Any Other Name Altaira Morbius and Kelinda have never experienced a kiss before, but once they take part in planet Earth’s customs the flow of the movie changes entirely. Forbidden Planet was released in 1956 and directed by Fred M. Wilcox. Star Trek: By Any Other Name was released in 1968 and directed by Marc Daniels. Both movies were released around the same time the first man set foot on the moon, which was 1969. This was a perfect opportunity for both directors to attract Science Fiction fans. They made movies that involved the interactions between intergalactic life and humans from planet Earth. The main scenes that I grasped from both movies involved the kissing of the female characters. The first kiss is powerful and magical because it creates attraction, new physical sensations, and jealousy. …show more content…
J. Adams and Altaira Morbius. This exact kiss made Altaira leave her father, Dr. Morbius, who she had been living with on the abandoned planet since she was born. Before the kiss, Altaira was an obedient daughter. Altaira would follow everything her father wanted and would not want anything else other than to be happy. When the Commander came along and touched lips with Altaira, she began to be more attracted towards him. This attraction that she felt detracted from her relationship that she had with her father.     After reading a book and then watching the movie based on that book, generally people will say they feel disappointed because the movie lacks its heart and substance. Even though the movie The Scarlet Letter, directed by Roland Joffé, is based on Nathaniel Hawthorne’s novel, it offers different characters and plot than the novel. However, the book captivates people more. In both, the story takes place in Boston, Massachusetts, in seventeenth century. The Scarlet Letter is about Hester Prynne, a beautiful, young married woman from England who commits adultery with the respected minister Arthur Dimmesdale. When Hester’s husband, Roger Chillingworth comes to Boston after two years’ absence, he finds his wife has been unfaithful to him, and now has a baby, named Pearl. Furious about the betrayal, Chillingworth plots his revenge. The Puritan society is angry at Hester, and pressures her to confess her lover’s name, but she refuses. To punish her, they constrain her to wear the scarlet letter A. In the movie, Demi Moore stars as the pretty woman who commits adultery, Hester Prynne. Gary Oldman plays the admirable Minister Dimmesdale, and Roger Chillingworth is played by Robert Duvall. The Scarlet Letter of Nathaniel Hawthorne is an amazing novel but Roland Joffé’s movie does not catch the essence of the novel, and the changes in characters and plot alter the message of the novel.…

    Although summer and winter both occur when the Earth is titled toward the sun, there are very different seasons. The first and most obvious difference between summer and winter is the weather. During the summertime the days are warm and sunny. Temperatures range from 70° and above with a slight breeze, making it enjoyable to be outside. Toward the end of summer people tend to worry about hurricanes and tornadoes. On the other hand, winter days are cold and dark. There is a constant freezing chill making temperatures drop below zero. Normally there are worries about serious snow storms and blizzards. Another noticeable difference between summer and winter consist of the types of activities people participate in during the two seasons. Summer activities tend to involve being outdoors. For example people enjoy trips to the beach, family cookouts, swimming and even long walks. The sounds of kids riding their bikes and fireworks crackling can be heard throughout the days. However, in the winter people occasionally enjoy outdoors activities like sledding, ice skating and snowboarding. Generally during the winter though, people spend most of their time participating in indoor activities like watching movies, readings books, and baking sweets. For the reason that climates are drastically different during the summer and winter, these is also a huge difference in the way a person is dressed. During the summer people dress lightly, wearing simple t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops, and bathing suits. Hats are typically worn to keep the sun out of people's faces. Since the temperatures are high there is no need for any extra clothing or layering. Unlike while in the winter time multiple layers are worn to keep warm. People dress in heavy sweaters, long pants, thick coats, and boots. Hats are also worn during the winter, but not to block the sun but instead to keep the heat in. Last but…
