The Starbucks Corporation
The Starbucks Corporation has become a well-known globally successful business. In analyzing the application of the organizational behaviors of communication, culture, espoused values and enacted values, I can determine how these concepts have made this organization successful.
Starbucks has a very strong and appealing organizational culture. Customers can always be expected to be confronted with enthusiastic employees, happy to serve, and focused on the needs presented by their customers. Well trained employees have a vast amount of knowledge about the products offered by their company. Customer service is extremely important to Starbucks which is the reason their employees always ask the customer name to put on their drinks. Starbucks’ employees strive to provide an excellent product and as proven by their tremendous success. The company employees always respect customer’s confidentiality, and if the employee is unable to meet the customer’s need, then that the employee needs to offer another option. This culture maintains values that reach every corner of its business and reaches outside its walls to communities.
Starbucks has a matrix structure for organization communication. It is very effective way to take full advantage of all communication channels. It made up of cross functional works teams that have the ability to report to heads of organization other than the primary supervisor. This structure behavior has allowed the organization to have successful communication upward, downward, and laterally with its employees. Starbucks used a model of communication by a smaller group networks. It allows employees to communicate actively with each other and making all members free to contribute. The organizational communication extends beyond the employees and to the customer. The company does a great job in using technology, marketing tactic, and their employees to communicate success, goals, and vision to
