Start Young
The average kid is much smarter than you might think. They pick up bad behavior traits easily during the developmental age. Start young role playing or showing them the proper way to act in public, with peers, or the family.
Become A Role Model
Don't just tell your youngsters the proper way to behave. Act the part. Show consideration to others that you meet. Use common courtesy in everyday life. Kids will quickly imitate their parents and learn important lessons.
Simple Acts Of Kindness
Here is an idea. Spread simple acts of kindness everyday. It doesn't have to be a grand jester. For example, giving your seat on public transportation to an elderly person or holding the door open for a stranger.
Check Unruly Behavior
Stop unruly behavior that makes fun of others or offends others. This includes bullying. Ask the child about how they would feel, if someone acted that way toward them. This teaches the child to discuss their feelings and develop empathy and compassion for others.
Teach Caring
A good way to develop a caring personality in a child is to let them volunteer for a charity organization or volunteer for programs that work with the less fortunate in the community. Working with less fortunate develops a kind, understanding, and compassionate nature, while building the child's self esteem.
