Monarch Books should open a cafe in its store to attract more customers and better compete with Regal Books, which recently opened a cafe. Monarch, which has been in business at the same location for more than twenty years, has a large customer following because it is known for its wide selection of books on all subjects. Opening the cafe would clearly attract more customers. The cafe would require relatively little space. Space could be made for the cafe by discontinuing the children's book section, which will likely become less popular given that the last national census indicated a significant decline in the percent of the population who are under age ten."
The business manager at the monarch books recommends that monarch books should open a café to attract more customers and better compete with regal books at the cost of removing the children’s books section because of the significant decline in the percent population who are under age ten but this action might fail to achieve the intended or even can have a perverse effect on the sales of monarch books
First of all, opening a café in the books store doesn’t assure more customers and the increment in sales of regal books is not given in the argument after opening the café so it won’t be correct to assume that regal books has been benefitted by opening the café .
Secondly, the monarch books has been in the business for the last twenty years and has a large no. of customers following because of its wide selection of books on all subjects thus opening a café might distract them from concentrating on the wide variety of books hence decreasing the customers in the books store
Last but not the least café section will be accommodated in the store by removing of children section which is not a good idea because monarch is in business for last twenty years so they should think of future years to come and census happens every ten years so there is a possibility that in next census the percent population under age

Coffeehouses first came popular in the UK in the mid-17th century with the first ones being established in Oxford in 1650. In the mid-1990s Seattle-based coffee shop conglomerate Starbucks successfully entered the UK market, which resulted in other chains making similar moves and, by the end of the 20th century, the coffee shop sector had experienced a boom, with a multitude of chains appearing on the market (Keynote, 2012). Although the majority of the coffee shops offer the same variety and quality of coffee, largely, customers prefer to visit one particular major chain of coffee shop above all others. The coffee shop chains engaging in horizontal product differentiation can explain this.…
