Doctorial study is a significant milestone in the perpetual journey to education and the best exposure to this would be an eligible platform to prove the skills and knowledge that I have learnt. With due reverence to the department and the university, I pen down a "statement of purpose". This statement is an attempt to project my credentials as an aspiring researcher, my achievements as a biotechnology/biology graduate, my interest in this doctoral program and my ambitions.
My schooling and college education played a pivotal role in shaping my future. I had excellent facilities and faculty, which laid emphasis on fundamentals. This fired my interest in academics and research. I was good in my academics by being in top 5% of the school by scoring 80% in my 10th grade and 86% in my 12th grade and have also maintained in the top 5% at my undergraduate.
I am currently pursuing third semester of my Masters in biology at Western Illinois University under Dr. Richard Musser’s Lab. I have done my undergraduate from Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (SNIST) affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, an institution aided with World Bank assistance under TEQIP scheme. Having good teaching and laboratory facilities, my undergraduate college has laid primary emphasis to fundamentals both theoretical and practical on a wide range of subjects, which gave me a thorough understanding of essential features of the subjects and substantial motivations for research.
To lay down my foundation in various fields of biotechnology, I have tried to learn more by participating in various national level technical symposiums on the topics which includes “Coffee as Biofuel: good till the last drop”, “Preventing the growth of brain tumor by creating a zone of resistance”, “Plastics to Bio-plastics”, “Viral oncogenesis”, “Metastasis”.
I have worked on a two month project in the college related to Plant tissue i.e. “Callus
