“I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- life is stronger than death.” If you ask me to describe myself I would say that I am pleasant, diverse, and active man. I think one of my most distinguishing characteristics is the diversity of experiences I possess. I am an engineering graduate with a flair for management. I also have a passion for traveling and exploring different cultures of the world. All these elements have helped me develop a very broad outlook, with varying degrees of knowledge in a range of topics. As a freshman at the undergraduate level, I chose my major in Electrical & Electronics Engineering to ensure a sound technological base. It was in my third year of graduation in Engineering that I was able to touch upon subject like Industrial and Organizational Management, which stimulated my interest towards management. Professional experience has helped me fortify my conclusion that Management science is a major part of the industry and it plays a polar role. After completing my Engineering from Cochin University of Science & Technology, Kochi; which is amongst the best institutes of technical education in India, I joined in as a Project Engineer in Wipro Technologies Ltd. To get a feel of corporate management and to know what it takes to become a successful manager before opting for a career in the field. My desire to know more of the big world of managers saw me carefully observing what makes the decisions of the managers, who manage the companies, more successful & pragmatic. I realized that experience did play a major role in their success, but what was more important was that they came from recognized schools of business. Their decisions were based on simulated conditions in classroom discussions and on the basis of their peer’s experiences that were also shared…

As the demand for management education grows so do the challenge and opportunities too. Today business schools in India face the challenge of creating an indigenous model of management curriculum. Although the area of action to implement management education is a global one but it is also necessary for the curriculum to reflect local aspirations. For eg: curriculum should focus on local case studies where the management principles are broadly examined, questioned and streamlined to meet the challenges of the local/national business environment optimistically. Unfortunately, Indian Business schools vary widely in terms of the caliber of the faculty, quality of curriculum, infrastructure, and placement record. Apart from the premier list of B Schools in India the academic standards of most of the B Schools are not upto the mark. In fact at the low end of the spectrum we find institutes charge exorbitant fee from gullible students but provide negligible academic value addition.…

The reason why I applied to this exchange program is that I have a dream to experience a global education. Going overseas will open up my horizons, encouraging to be a more independent individual. Overseas, I will not only spend much time studying but I will also willingly participate in activities in the university, shaping me into a more holistic individual. By immersing myself in their local culture, I am able to learn new skills that are beyond textbooks. Equipped with the new skills I picked up in my exchange program, I will return to NUS as a more mature and proficient student. Along with that, I will also share with my peers the insights I have gained from my trip, allowing them to benefit from my experience. On top of that, I will apply all that I have learnt overseas to further enhance and excel in my academics and to my career in the future. Likewise, I am thus able to contribute in bringing NUS to greater heights of academic excellence. I would also like to cultivate and foster new friendships and bonds with not only the exchange students but also with the locals. As an ambassador of NUS, I will offer them insights on the education system in Singapore, particularly the dynamic study regime in NUS. This way, not only do I benefit from the students over there but I am also able to bring to them an Asian perspective on the issues at hand. By engaging with the local students, I will be able to open their minds about the holistic education system we have here in NUS and hopefully evoke and propel their interest in coming to Singapore for their exchange program.…
