As I am an active member of the Seneca East FFA chapter, I strive to live and work by the National FFA Organization’s motto: “Living to do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve.” I interpret this motto simply: with every new project, you must accomplish it with a purpose. When I engage in a community service project, I have the mindset to put my whole heart in it, making the most out of the experience. Through the values and ethics I have attained through FFA, I will continue to serve my community and world with my whole heart throughout my life. If I were selected to receive the Samsung American Legion Scholarship, I would use the money to further my education focusing in the subject of Agriculture. This scholarship would inspire…

My name is Tammy and I have been Registered Nurse for nearly 20 years now. I have worked in a variety of settings and have carried many titles. For the past 10 years or so, I have primarily been a hemodialysis nurse and I’ve embraced the love I have for this specialty. I recently entered the RN to BSN program at The Ohio State University. I am learning about Evidence Based Practice, or EBP for short, which is a fairly new concept for me. I work in a relatively small environment for an extremely large healthcare company. I work in an outpatient hemodialysis clinic where we provide approximately 250 hemodialysis treatments per week to about 100 patients. My company is an international company with nearly 3,000 clinics in the US and abroad serving…

I am planning on serving a mission this July and I am writing this to show the passion that I have to forgo that plan and to make sure nothing restricts me from doing so. I am 19 years old and I attend Brigham Young University in Utah. I have always had my goals set high in everything that I do so I am very thankful to be here. I was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at a young age and I want to start off by saying that CF is a part of me, but it does not control me—it does not define who I am. From a very young age, my parents have taught me what it’s like to be independent and not rely on others to do things for me that I can do for myself. They have also taught me to never quit at anything: sports, school, work, etc. As I have grown up, sports have been of my…

The following persuasive piece will be written in the form of a speech to be presented at a school assembly. Addressing the prompt - we conform to stereotypes and expectations far more than we think - this speech will investigate the colossal impact that societal expectations and stereotypical norms have on a person’s identity and show the true extent to which we subconsciously conform to them. My speech contends that we simply accept what the majority and masses do as ‘the norm’ and conform to said norm without even thinking twice about it and that in doing this, we limit our ability to be individuals.…

I would like to begin by discussing the core values and ethical principles of Social Work. I came across the core values, according to the National Association of Social Work (NASW), associated with the social work profession, and I discovered the basic values which were listed were also ethical and moral values that I personally would consider as among the most important to consider as a social worker. The NASW listed six core values which included service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, integrity, and competence. I would like to discuss each in further detail beginning with service. The type of service provided by the social worker is highly important and can make a huge impact as to whether there will be a successful outcome or not. The goal in the service provided by a social worker is to do all that is possible to help the individual(s) who are in need and to concentrate on the social problems that exist. It is important to go above and beyond, putting others in front of yourself, and provide the best service. In order to help those in need, a social worker must use their expertise, veneration, and experience as well as focus on the social problems at hand. In fact, social workers are encouraged to volunteer their knowledge and expertise at times provides services with absolutely no intention of receiving anything in return. I personally feel that although there may not be any financial compensation, just the fact that you could apply your skills and knowledge to help an individual, or individuals, is an even greater reward. Another core value is social justice, which refers to the idea of helping people realize that there are ways to improve certain types of living situations. The responsibility as a social worker is to always oppose and develop ways to change social injustice. Examples of different forms of social injustice include situations such as poverty, unemployment, discrimination, etc.…

When making a decision as important and influential as where to attend school, it is important to be aware of the differences that make each school unique and therefore either right or wrong for you. It can be quite problematic to choose which one is best; there is a lot to think about when choosing a school for yourself or your child's education. Parents usually have some trepidation concerning the options for their child's school. Concerns usually center around the schools' and teachers' reputation for integrity and academic excellence.
