Statement Of Purpose: Model Congress
To be a General Chair is a great responsibility. There and many qualities and values I possess that make me qualified to be the General Chair of LBMC XXII.
Over the past three years, Model Congress has been a major part of my life. From weekly meetings, to our home congress, to foreign congresses, Model Congress is a club that has significantly impacted my life in a positive way. This club has changed my outlook and has allowed me to gain a better understanding of important issues as well as view things in different perspectives. One of the first reasons I believe I should be GC is because of my appreciation for all things congress. I truly love this club and the opportunities it gives me and my fellow peers. To be able to express my thoughts to like-minded individuals is something I do not take for granted and I’m very happy that such a club exists.

From actively participating in debate, to cheering so loud I lose my voice, I put a great deal of energy into this club and all its aspects. Model Congress is something I deeply enjoy and the zeal I carried throughout this year makes me worthy of this position.
My leadership abilities also make me a capable of being GC. This past year, I have taken initiative in my responsibilities as a Hospitality chair as well as a team captain of the Purple Team. Generally logical in thought, I am a reasonable leader who is comfortable to accept feedback and input from others. That being said, I am a leader who demands respect at all times.
The social skills I possess as well make me qualified for the position of General Chair. I am comfortable interacting with my peers and acquaintances but I am also able to keep professional relationships. When in charge of Hospitality, I personally visited the businesses we catered from so to discuss

to advocate on behalf of FCCLA to Missouri Representatives and Senators. I was among a select few from across the country who were able to experience the opportunity to serve on behalf of all FCCLA members. It was a humbling experience because I realized if I, along with other FCCLA members, would not have been able to share why we are so passionate about the organization, then we may not have received the essential funding we need from the government. This is the perfect example of how I understand what being a socially responsible leader is; being a voice and advocate for the things I am passionate about. If I believe something needs to be supported or change, then I will be out there advocating for the issue and making a difference. Not only have I acted on behalf of FCCLA, but I have also taken action on issues in my own community, such as fighting childhood hunger and collecting donations for the children’s hospital. Similarly, the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership is contributing to the greater good like I am. Furthermore, I value dedicating my time to solving issues and contributing to the well-being of…

Breaking down my leadership qualities and traits and what kind I am the first thing that always comes to mind, is that I am one who still has a lot to learn and many skills to develop. Yes, I know that all of that will come with time but it remains a lingering thought letting me know that there is always room for constant improvement. That being said I would like to consider myself as a transactional leader. I greatly enjoy getting involved and checking in to ensure things are getting done right when the occasion calls for it. To include the added bonus of handing out rewards to the individuals that worked day in and day out to uphold and meet or exceed the standards I set and agree with them on.…

Chartering and being in charge of a club can be very rewarding, but there can also be a plethora of obstacles that have to be overcome. I am the president of the Best Buddies program – a program that seeks to increase interactions between people with and without special needs – at my high school, and I was the first person in my county to charter this program which was back when I was in the eighth grade. Being the President of this specific club is very challenging and unique: it requires you to work with a wide variety of students – in the mainstream setting and those with special needs – and those students’ parents. From these challenges, I learned the value of persistence and the importance of keeping to your word no matter what life…
