Ever since I was in about second grade I have dreamed about going to Bishop Lynch. I always heard good things about the school, and have experienced many of them myself. I enjoy that the school offers many sports and clubs, which I would be very active in. I think teams teach leadership, and leadership builds leaders which would help me get far in life. Bishop Lynch provides many opportunities to be included in AP and Honors classes to advance me in my studies. Not only does Bishop Lynch have great academics and sports but you also have a great fine arts department. I believe that creativity sharpens your mind. Lastly, Bishop Lynch High School feels like home. I feel as if I am meant to go to BL. With such a great academic program, fantastic…
There are many reasons why I want to attend Archbishop Mitty High School. The academics are very advanced, which would allow me to reach my academic goals within the school. Another reason I want to attend Archbishop Mitty is the variety of after-school activities and clubs. I hope to participate in as many clubs as I can, in and outside of school. When I visited Archbishop Mitty, I realized what a supportive and accepting community the school has. This atmosphere makes students feel comfortable and welcome.…
I started taking classes part-time at OSU my junior year of high school, and full-time my senior year. By the time I graduated high school, I took 40 credit hours of classes at OSU and had a 3.81 OSU GPA. Despite the tough coursework I found time to partake in numerous extracurricular activities. When I officially joined OSU as a freshman, I joined the small biomedical science major and biological sciences group. In these groups, I have not only helped my peers with their academics, but I have given them guidance on how to simultaneously manage both their academics and fitness pursuits.…
I first heard about Hofstra from a student who currently attends as an undergrad. As an individual with interests in…
I would love to be in the National Honor Society, I was a part of the National Junior Honor Society at Sawtooth Middle School and I enjoyed it very much. I had so much fun being apart of the NJHS and that group of people. I love being apart of my community and being able to take action. One reason you should consider me for NHS is volunteering is a big part of my life already. I volunteer at Meridian Elementary and at the Boise Humane Society. At Meridian Elementary I help in the library with the classes and book fairs. I walk and play with the dogs at the Boise Humane Society with my friends. I am also in the Upward Bound program where we volunteer at the Boise Food Bank and the Boise Rescue Mission. I work extremely hard to keep my GPA up…
As a small girl, family and friends would ask me the infamous question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Most children reply a rock star, a princess, or an astronaut; my reply might sound a tad strange at first, but I wanted to be a tiger. I wanted to be an Auburn tiger to be more exact. Auburn University has been a driving force in my life for as long I can remember. Looking through old photographs I found pictures of me with the eye of the tiger drawn on my diaper for game day to the picture of me on the phone with a recruiter encouraging me to apply to join the Auburn family. When I drive through the small town I feel a sense of warm southern hospitality while meeting friendly members of the Auburn family are the reasons why I believe Auburn University is the right college for me.…
When you’re good at something you’ll tell everyone, When you’re great at something they’ll tell you-Walter Payton. I’ve always wanted to be in the NFL but due to sports related injuries I can no longer play football. My 5 year plan after High School is to go to College for sports medicine and the be a athletic trainer in the NfL.…
I would not only like to, but be considered for membership within the NEHS, NMHS, and SMHS because it would make my parents and family proud. I also want to be a good role model for my sisters, who are just now entering their journey in their education. Especially for my younger sister, who is in 6th grade and in 2 years will enter high school. It would be an honor to be a member of the Honor Societies to make my parents proud and be an example/role model to my sisters. My parents made many sacrifices to get me and my sisters a better education then they did. I come from Mexico and my parents didn't have the same opportunities for education like I have right now and I have to thank them because they left their families to come to an unknown place with an unknown language just so I could study and have a better life then they did.…
Unlike other Hokies, I did not tour Virginia Tech before applying. In fact, I didn't even know where Virginia Tech was before I started applying for colleges 2 years ago. I just knew this school was for me. It felt like a place where I could dream big. Getting a postcard from a senior Hokie before coming to Virginia Tech made it all the more incredible. Two years later, I will write these postcards for our new accepted Hokies myself. I also have done community service related activities every semester, from Women’s Resource Center to being a note taker for Services for Students with Disabilities this year. I strive to make my life about the school motto, Ut Prosim. The only way to make Virginia Tech a more heartwarming place is by participating in the community.…
Why do I want to play college football? Well because I love football. I love the thrill of playing under the lights. I love the whole crowd cheering as loud as they can. I love the competition, I love to win. There is nothing better than when you make a great play and the whole entire student section is chanting your name. Nothing beats running and celebrating with all the fans after you just win an important game. Friday nights are the…
The thought of not furthering my education was never an option for my siblings and I. From a young age we were told that the only way to succeed in this world is to work hard and be kind. I believe that furthering my education will help in both of these areas for a couple of reasons. Attending a very diverse university such as Mizzou will provide me the opportunity to meet new people and experience what the world has to offer other than the small sample of it that I get in Monroe City. I will also become more open-minded to different viewpoints and will learn how to question these. This will help develop my people skills.…
I am writing to direct my most sincere gratitude to you for making the Associated Students at SDSU-IVC Scholarship possible. I was so excited to learn of being selected for this honor and I am extremely thankful and appreciative of your support.…
Years ago, my neighbor had this bumper sticker, “You were created for something awesome. Find your purpose.” I would see this bumper sticker every day, and hope that, indeed, someday, I would find my purpose. I never imagined that I was meant for more than being a mom and wife. Content with my role, I still kept hoping my awesome purpose would make itself known. Nearly 20 years after dropping out of college, I have found my purpose – I’m helping to heal my family and friends.…
The purpose of college is not only to prepare yourself for a career after college but to discover what you are truly passionate about. As a freshmen student, I find it difficult to find something within the field of engineering that I want to make a career out of. Unfortunately, the limitations of fulfilling a required core curriculum and being overlooked by companies for an internship makes it hard for freshmen to test the waters and plan an academic and professional future. I feel studying abroad is one way in which I can learn about the different paths engineering can lead to, all while broadening my cultural horizons. I am particularly interested in this course because Italy and nuclear engineering are two things that I would like to explore.…
As I’ve gotten older, I realize that my parents have sheltered me for majority of my life. And while I haven’t been handed things on a silver platter, I’m still quite dependent on them. However, when I started my college process, I decided that I wanted to become independent of my parents. Because of this, I began looking at schools on the east coast, specifically Syracuse University. While researching Syracuse University, I became very interested in how balanced the diversity on campus is as many students come from all over the country and have different racial backgrounds as my current school has that balance. I also began researching the student to teacher ratio as I wanted a school where I could easily reach a faculty member if necessary.…
