The company that I am working for has been expanding and thusly has more equipment and personnel. We traditionally use static IP addressing but this is no longer sufficient. It is now time that we start using DHCP due to the fact that this will allow better functionality through the automatic addressing and leasing of IP addresses. More benefits of using DHCP are the massive amount of IP addresses that are available in DHCP and the fact that DHCP will automatically recall an IP address once the lease is up unless it is renewed. The difference in the amount of work required by network administrators is tremendous. Static IP addresses require network administrators to sit and recall or have a list of every single IP address that they have used for every computer in order to communicate back and forth for trouble shooting reasons as to where a DHCP will have that list already for you and you can even have a DNS so that way you will not have to have a list of IP addresses in order to understand which computer is where or to trouble shoot why a computer is having difficulty connecting to the network. Another big difference between the two is the how easy it is to use the command prompt in order to trouble shoot the DHCP server and from there be able to find where possible issues occur as to where static IP addresses are harder to trouble shoot and slow down the data transfer rate between systems. Another Advantage of DHCP is that network administrators can setup security protocols inside of The DHCP server in order to keep the system safer. A great example of this is one straight form our text books of how we can set up protocols to check for virus protection on computer systems so as to keep personal computers with potential viruses isolated from the rest of our network saving a lot of money, time, effort, personnel information, possible company secrets, and/or client secrets. In conclusion it is obvious that investing in a DHCP server is paramount to a growing
