Stating the Thesis
Your thesis sets the stage for your paper. Without a well -planned thesis you have the possibility of losing your audience, of causing confusion, or not making sense to anyone but yourself. Also, “What matters is to present the idea of the thesis in the most interesting manner possible”. (87)
What I am looking forward to in ENG 111 is to become an exciting and interesting writer. I often wonder, and occasionally worry if what I write makes sense to others. It is very important to me to build self-confidence in this area as I become better educated.
However this brings me to Avoiding Pitfalls. “Don’t apologize for anything, such as your lack of experience or limitations in writing about the topic”. (90) Being a working professional and reading correspondence from superiors I often wonder if my correspondence is up to par for them. At times I use too much punctuation only to show tone, as tone can be difficult to read. Chapter 5 has given me the basic guidelines of building a paper, and I am looking forward to putting these steps to good use! …show more content…
