King is a bestselling author who has written many books that could make you stay awake at night. King has the ability to use the fear and curiosity in such a way that it is poetry. This is a tribute in the form of a biography to the great Stephen King, man who isn't afraid of anything.
Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947, in Portland, Maine. He grew up in a divided family with divorced parents. Stephen and his brother spent time between both parents but ended up living with his mother. King went to the college of Maine at Orono. He wrote for the school newspaper, where he got his first taste of writing. King was able to be publish his first short story in “Startling Mystery Stories.” He graduated college with an English degree, he wanted to become a teacher but with no luck he took a job at local business. “Carrie” King’s first novel was sold in 1973, a story about a young girl who gets tormented to the point of no return, and gets revenge on her peers in a horrifying way.
This was his first novel to be adapted to the big screen but others soon followed suit. He continued to write about monsters, and evil clowns, but he took the alias Richard Bachman to publish several more books. King’s concern that the public wouldn’t accept more than one book from an author within a year (Biography). King wrote many more books in his own name including “The Shining” which became a cult classic film, and is recognized as being one of the best horror movies made. King writes at fast pace speeds writing and producing numerous novels a year. Many of his books that became films went on to receive Oscar nominations and awards such as; “Misery”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Stand”, and “The Green
Mile”.
Stephen King has a life outside of writing horror and mystery, he has a wife and three children. King and his wife Tabitha Spruce spend their time divided between Florida and Maine. His children are; Naomi Rachel, Joseph Hillstrom, who followed in his father's footsteps and became a writer, and Owen Philip who writes short stories. The King family is a family of authors, the family who writes together stays together. Stephen King may be the King of horror but he is teaching all of us a lesson on fear.
