Stereotype-Judging People
I do agree with Tannen, because we categorize people everyday with just a quick look. The benefit of categorizing people could be the lees of confusion but other than that doesn’t make it excusable. It takes away our uniqueness, as in a colored man people just look at him or her and start believing they’re a bad person doing shady things. Or how muslims are terrorists, or how mexicans steal jobs, that’s categorizing us, making us seem like people we aren’t, and taking away what we really are. It just starts being offensive and hurtful once we start judging people. We offend because of stereotypes that probably aren’t even related to them.
STEREOTYPE- Judging someone based on their looks, race, and gender
It’s definitely negative it affects

    Junot Diaz’s “How to Date a Browngirl, Blackgirl, Whitegirl, or Halfie” seems to play into and highlight the racial stereotypes that affect the way Americans see each other; however, Diaz is in fact working to show that even people who believe they understand the full extent of stereotypes, especially men, find themselves subordinate to the ones they are stereotyping. In this story, Diaz shows how female stereotypes actually control the actions of a males seeking intimacy.
