Stereotypes In Research Paper

A stereotype is an oversimplified explanation of someone. All of us have stereotypes that may or may not be true. If we are being honest with ourselves, then we know that we stereotype each other. It’s human nature to judge someone and everyone does it. We base our judgments off of shallow things like what a person wears, their race, how much money they have, what sports or activities they partake in and so many other things. It’s easy to stereotype others, however, it can be extremely challenging to stereotype yourself. It’s hard to speculate how others see you. It can be self-degrading, make you feel overconfident, and so many stereotypes that people have for us are not true so it is difficult to see yourself that way. Coming to a new school, it’s easy for people to judge you before they know anything about you. “The new girl from ICD” as soon as people know you come from a private school they assume that you are wealthy, super religious and stuck up. It’s hard to be yourself around new people so a lot of people think I am shy and reserved. Since I am on the dance team, I am always associated with it. Everyone thinks that I am super smart and a goody-goody because I actually do my work and I try really hard to get good grades. I am often seen as a "try hard" because I like to dress cute and look nice for school.
I see myself as a confident and positive young woman who doesn't always show it.
I think I am hilarious, even if others do not. I know that I am hardworking and determined to succeed. Some may think I am naive, but I am just a child at heart. I am always starving, love watching Netflix, and I love my dogs. I am kind of shy around new people, but around my friends and family, I couldn’t be more outgoing. I am a leader and a dreamer. I know who I am and try my hardest to not let others bring me down. Nothing makes me more content than making those around me smile and laugh. I love being able to lift someone's spirit when they are in a bad
mood.

I have learned a lot through this assignment, it has helped me to see that what others think of me doesn’t matter. People are people and they are going to judge you. They are entitled to their wrong opinions and there is no need to be down on yourself because someone doesn’t like you. However, I do understand that people words, attitudes, and actions can be harmful. I think that we all need to work on building each other up rather than tearing each other down.
