Stereotypes In The Campaign's Always Campaign: Like A Girl
Many young girls and women face barriers and discrimination because of their gender in the U.S. today. Stereotypes are made that females are weaker, slower, and shy, which makes them feel less than a man. The always campaign called “Like A Girl” addresses the limitations girls face and how the world views them when asked to describe things girls do. The always commercial expresses emotions through self-reports, others perspective on girls, and experiences. As well as showing us that the always pad commercial cares about the lives of girls as they go through puberty and continue to grow into young women. The commercial promises to help boost the confidence of young girls. The commercial begins with an experiment with others and asked them to “show me what it looks like to run like a girl” and “show me what it looks like to fight like a girl and throw like a girl”. During this experiment many made fun of girls by imitating them as running slow, being concerned about their hair, and fighting softly. All of those things imitate the actions of girls wrongly. We have girls from all different races, cultures, and backgrounds. This shows us that this campaign is for all types of girls. It is not limited to one culture or race. As well as trying to show us that we need equality of for women and young girls. The ad does well by appealing to ethos and logos. It appeals to those two because it shows how the campaign uses women of different races to show their credibility and how they are able to relate to all women in the world. Throughout this commercial I noticed how for the most part they used normal people to take roles in the ad.
