According to the oxford dictionary, gender is the state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social and cultural differences rather than biological ones). Back in the day women were housewives and men went to work. Many of today's generation parents are not seeing this. More women are working but they are not being held to the same standard. Women are believed to lack leadership, some do not get paid the same as their male co-workers but for men they are not being held to the same level of smartness.
