think anyone who doesn't think like they do is not good association. Many people also believe that all Asians are smart, and they always get good grades because A+’s are good and an A- was considered an “Asian F”. “Asians , are cultured in a way that they are always made to stress more on studies and the traditional learning methods (Do -It-A-Thousand-Times-Until-It-Is-Done) help them score brilliantly.” Those however are just some of the stereotypes about Asians. Immigrants are also stereotyped in today's society, a recent public figure, Donald Trump, pointed out I one of his speeches that "when Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best...they're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us.
They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists..." When this was said people immediately began to judge ALL immigrants, although most people come to the United States to work here and to provide for their families just like everyone else does. Immigrants are told how in America you are free, and they are told about the American Dream, which is the ideal that every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative. This issue really needs to be addressed because when someone is told that in the United States there is freedom to do make a better life for yourself and then there are people who still sit here and judge and contradict that, that's not a just thing in our society. Now, when we consider this we, know that not all immigrants come to support and keep those whom they care about safe and with a better life, some immigrants do come to the United States and commit crimes like, drug trafficking, but not because some immigrants act a certain way or behave a certain way, does not give other the right to judge ALL …show more content…
immigrants. In today's society not much has changed on the stereotype of a colored man, although the changes that have occurred are good.
For example, schools aren't segregated, there isn't different restaurants for whites and colored people nor is there different restrooms and water fountains. This is a difference from what it was in the past does make it better for those of color to live freely, but not completely because there are still people in our society who constantly judge others. The fact of the matter is that no matter how much we would like to believe that it has gone away, we know it has not. Colored people are still being called “nigga” and as we know words cut deep, those words are engraved there minds, people don't see it as a big deal until they are being discriminated and are being called names. However, when white man is called a “cracker” a whole other level is being crossed, and the same goes for when latino(a) is being called a “beaner”, it offends many people and it's not ok for people to say those
words. After analysing the different types of stereotypes in our world today, from Asians to colored people, it is clear that we as humans in this society should understand that it's not ok to judge people whom we don't even know and whom we have never been around, or gotten to know. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee does her best to remind us that it's not ok for a human being, who isn't perfect, to judge others based on where they come from and that we should all treat each other with the respect we DESERVE. Now, I urge you to join me in the fight against the stereotyping of GROUPS of individuals, and remembering that like, Atticus Finch quoted, “all men are created equal”(273) and we have no right to take that from anyone.
