Thesis Statement : In our society, you simply cannot avoid expectations. These interpretations are affected by your gender, class, and socio-economic stand. Stereotypes are present in our society. Thus we have expectations from others, besides ourselves. Some individuals may be deceived into believing incorrect expectations and some will fight for what they believe in. In the stories “In Line” and “Boys and Girls”, through the conflicts of the main characters, the authors portray the impact that people’s expectations have on us and how this affects how we live our lives.
