Steroid Use
This argument speaks for itself with the titles listed below
“The Designer Player,” by Rodrigo Villagomez and “Destroyed,” by Peter Martin.
Villagomez argues that there would be no real entertainment of athletes’ if they didn’t use steroids, Martin argues that athletes that use steroids are cheaters, Villagomez says that steroids are healthy for athletes and Martin argues that steroids are unhealthy for athletes. Steroids are dangerous for athletes and are also used for medical reasons in a sense both gentleman are right Villagomez saying that steroids are healthy and Martin by stating that it is unhealthy because of the dangerous side effects. Villagomez argues the benefits of steroid use and how it benefits our health and I have to admit that steroids are used in many medicines, prescriptions, lotions and creams that many people use everyday. When we chose to get rid of our wrinkles or acne, we subject ourselves to many different types of steroids and we tell ourselves that it is okay because the doctor gave it to us. side effects comes with many of those, but when it comes to cheating at a sport that’s when we feel it’s a problem, but is it really? Because I have light wrinkles or light acne scarring, I feel as though I have to have these creams to make myself feel better and these athletes

are doing the same thing by telling them that they want to feel better by winning. Peter Martin on this subject based on the fact that steroids are illegal and unethical by all means when used for the enhancement of your abilities to win any sport, the players that chose to use steroids are cheaters as Mr. Martin stated in “Destroyed “and is very unhealthy for players that use them. These players have known to get neurological disorders, infections from dirty needles by use of anabolic steroid use and heart attacks add to that claim; the abuse of the drug can kill these young men. Rodrigo Villagomez argues the benefits of steroids for athletes health which are, reduce fatigue and help them perform better at the sport they are playing, building muscle mass, endurance levels of performance, running faster and being able to handle physically demanding activities are some of the benefits that athletes receive from steroid use. Many athletes cannot perform these activities without the use of steroids. The sports they play have intense motivation and endurance to do anything their body can stand to win. Peter Martin argues the unhealthy side effects of steroid use which are, when systemic steroids are used for long periods of time, or when steroids are taken on multiple occasions, more serious side effects may occur. It is for these reasons that the dose and duration of systemic steroids should be minimized whenever possible.

Some side effects can be decreased by taking systemic steroids every other day instead of daily, even if the total dose is the same many of the side effects are reversible if the steroids are stopped, while other side effects may be permanent.
Many of these side effects include Glaucoma, High-blood pressure, Heart disease, Diabetes mellitus, Obesity, Increase in certain types of infections and many more. Steroid use amongst athletes is dangerous because their goal is only to win and increasing their dosages for that purpose is abuse. I think that no one should abuse any drug especially for the purpose of winning a game, it is illegal for a reason solely because it’s cheating the non-users out of their goals of winning and just isn’t fair. If your going to win honestly it cant be achieved with the help of steroids, I say give the other players a chance to have a fair and honest game. I agree with both gentlemen because steroids are good and bad for athletes and others as well. It benefit us and hurt us just like any drug on the market.
Peter Martin argument about the cheating that athletes do to win and how unhealthy it is to their health is true and Rodrigo Villagomez argument about the entertaining game we all get with a steroid pumped athlete and the health benefits of steroids are true by keeping the athletes from exhaustion and fatigue allowing their bodies to endure what is asked of them. In the future the same actions that are being taken now about illegal steroid use from athletes, should always be taken, I don’t think I would want my son around a group of steroid pumped athletes pushing him and driving him to take a drug that could potentially kill him all for the sake of winning a game. Athletes need to focus more on their health and push and drive each other to success instead of a drug.
