middle and long distance runner born Oregon January 25th 1951 attended Marshfield high school from 1966-1970(“Steve Prefontaine”). during this he won every running event he stepped up to and set a high school national record for the two mile 8 min 41.5sec(“Steve Prefontaine”). 1970 steve attended the University of Oregon where he trained with Bill Bowerman as his coach(“Steve Prefontaine”). For three years straight he won NCAA cross country Championships(“Steve Prefontaine”). Only beaten twice during his college career(“Steve Prefontaine”).
