Today newspapers reported that the police had recovered the shotgun, motorcycle and the three-wheeler used for the shooting on 22 Oct from the nearby STF camp. On 22, unidentified persons shot at two youths who were travelling in a motorcycle in Ariyala, and one person succumbed to injure after being admitted to the hospital. The one who survived the shooting said that the motorbike was from the Mandative Navy camp. Following this incident, the police team searched the Navy camp, but they failed to any evidence connected with the murder. Subsequently, the police team investigated the nearby STF camp where they found the about items suspected to have used for the above shooting. If the publicly available information are correct, fingers are pointed at the STF for the murder, which indicates the deteriorating security situation in the North.

Moreover, just because the police arrested some equipment from the STF camp, it does not mean that they have any involvement in this shooting. Additionally, under the prevailing situation, the government is very keen to avoid anything that will jeopardize the reconciliation process. Hence, it is too early to determine whether the STF has any involvement in the shooting incident. Initially, the surviving victim accused the Navy of the shooting, but the police failed to find any evidence from the Navy camp. At the same time, it is counterproductive for the STF to involve in illegal activities of this nature.
In that case, possibility exists that another armed group operate in the North. At the movement, it is not clear the intent of such groups, whether they have a political intent or they are fighting due to personal dispute. The government need to find truth behind the incident. However, we need to closely monitor the developing situation as it can become a driver of
