1 In the 21st century, some environmental variables that may affect Prince Sports include ever-changing technology and the deployment and use of social media amongst all age groups. The use of social media is a marketing powerhouse. Microsoft and Facebook sell consumer information to companies who then in turn can fine tune their marketing strategies. They can also reach a larger audience, and more specifically, a younger one, ensuring they can have long-term customers. The constant changing of technology has its drawbacks too. The market is saturated with cheap materials and due to the rise of the popularity of the sport, demand is increasing. With the cost of everything rising, marketing for a cost effective yet competitive product is key.2 Prince sponsors tennis training camps for kids and adults. They are interested in continuing the rise of tennis in the US. By fostering training and awareness, young consumers who might not have aware of the joys of tennis have a fun and educational experience. Prince also holds “demo events” where consumers can gain awareness for the company and try out their new products themselves.3 Prince designs and markets their racquets to meet the needs of three distinct styles of players. They also meet the need for three levels of players from pros on television, recreational players and juniors or children. To reach recreational players, they realize that not everyone is a pro, and that everyone has a different swing. They create their products with this in mind. Demo racquets and promotional material is placed in stores where the recreational player may shop. This also can pertain to the junior players. Another all-encompassing trait that Prince practices is utilizing the combination of price point, technology and performance. Recreational players are typically older, with disposable income. They can afford better racquets, and may keep the same one for a little longer than the...…

One blistering summers’ day in Northwest Florida, home for college, Jay was cleaning out the garage. This was apart of his mother’s summer clean sweep project, which she did every year. Jay comes from a family who is very involved in sports. So as he was singing the childhood clean up and going through and sorting the football pads, softballs, baseball, batting and fielding gloves, sweet bands, and other athletic equipment and sports wear he came across a recognizable object. It was his old bat. The Bat he used in little league almost 10 years ago. This was the first bat that Jay ever had. As Jay held the dusty, paint chipped, dry-rotting but yet still majestic bat in his hands, fond memories of the typical day at the ballpark began to flood his mind.…

To be successful in the game of tennis is dependent on the player’s technique as well as biomechanics which play a vital role in stroke production. A fundamental mechanical structure is founds in all tennis strokes.11 The backswing provides the distance. Tennis players need to be able to control the direction of the racket and the timing of the entire movement. The skill level of the tennis player depends largely on the mechanics of their forehand swing. The force of impact is determined by the racket speed at the moment it comes in contact with the ball. When maximum distance is used for accelerating that is when maximum velocity can be obtained. Body weight support is necessary for the forehand drive because shifting weight when striking the ball will increase ground reaction force to the body and the ball. A player wants to be balanced to direct power and energy without losing control. Forward momentum will carry the racket through the ball after contact. The follow through helps prepare the player for the next stroke. It should be long and the arm and racket should wrap around the body. It dissipates kinetic energy off the racket and that is when the player wants to arrive at the right point and balanced to be ready for the next stroke and to be able to play the ball back. The player’s body must absorb the remaining energy of the racket and the…

Tennis is a highly competitive sport with participation in over 200 countries throughout the world. It is a non-contact racquet sport which requires aspects such as strength, power, speed, coordination and agility. Like any sport, tennis places specific demands on the body which can predispose any player to injury. These demands placed on the body result in injuries specific to the game. It is said by Pluim et al (2006) that although many injuries that occur in tennis are common in other sports, tennis has its own unique profile of injuries. (1) Injuries such as lateral ankle sprains, calf strains, lower back pain, tennis toe, shoulder impingement, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), ulnar collateral ligament tears and wrist strains are all…

    Racquet Head Analysis

    • 150 Words

After recording both my overhead smash and overhead clear, I was able to evaluate my foot movement, body position and the speed of the racquet head. As seen in the videos recording in week 3 of the unit, my feet are not always in the right position. This means that I didn’t move my feet quickly enough to get in a position where I can hit the shuttlecock with strong and stable feet. This then causes my body to be at an awkward angle in which I can’t get the full potential out of my racquet, which then leads to lack of racquet head speed. To be able to fix these problems, I will have to move my feet quicker so I can get myself under the shuttlecock and hit it with the full speed it requires to either go over my player or smash right in front…

    What Made Rome Great?

Rome is an empire that stretched from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea, and with an abundance of reasons as to what made it great, Cicero believed that the perfect location chosen by Romulus, that truly made Rome great. When building the Capital of an empire there are several factors to take in. Defence, distance from the sea, and more defence. The Rutuli people, were of concern to the Romans as they had comparable wealth and power. Building the city just north of Rutuli territory, over the hills and not by the coast made it “easy..to take with forces at his command, either by invading the territory of the Rutuli or of the Aborigines, or by... founding a city at the mouth of the Tiber.” The Tiber river runs through Rome into the north of the country. The basin of the river was inhabited by aboriginals, whom the Romans avoided battle with by settling away from the mouth of the river. The thought of an attack on the Rutuli's was proven true, as they took over the Rutulis in 6th century BC. A trend that Cicero noticed was that city’s built close to sea “ was not the most advantageous for cities to enjoy provenance and imperial sway, chiefly because the maritime cities are exposed to dangers both numerous and impossible to foresee.” Being closer to sea gave Rome many more unexpected dangers. Distance from the coast protected Rome from simple natural disasters such as storms, high tide, floods etc. But also gave them more foreseeable attack against enemies. As appose to being able to dock and invade, enemies of the empire would have to trench through kilometres of rough mountainous terrain in order to attack. Giving the Romans plenty of time to plan and react to the situation. He was saying how being close to the coast made it so much harder to enjoy being the most powerful, and to listen to what the state says because they would be in so much more fear due to the unforeseeable dangers. “A city surrounded on all sides by land…
