The research methodologies used to gather the information required to answer this question was surveys and interviews. In these surveys, I asked patrons of Stockland approximately how much per week did they spend before and after the renovations.
From this graph, it can be seen that most people surveyed experienced an increase in their weekly spending since the redevelopment took place. The minority of people surveyed experienced a decrease in their weekly spending.

To find the answer to this question, I surveyed random patrons of Stockland and asked them if in their opinion they believed that the redevelopment was necessary.
From this chart, it can be seen that most (79%) of the patrons surveyed felt that the redevelopment of Stockland Wetherill Park was necessary; only 21% thought that this redevelopment was unnecessary. The main reasons given by the participants as to why they thought the redevelopment was necessary/unnecessary was: “it provided much needed shops and expanded the availability of products, it can now accommodate the growing population” (for) and “It was not necessary because the shopping centre was already adequate” (against).
Research Question: Why was this expansion undertaken?
To answer this question, I interviewed the marketing manager for Stockland Wetherill Park, Kate MacDonald. In this interview I asked her the question "why was this expansion undertaken", her response was: "The redevelopment was undertaken because of public demand, growth in the area, and this is a high immigration area. Of the businesses interviewed 57% said that there was a decrease in the amount of people shopping in Stockland Wetherill Park since the redevelopment. 43% said that there was a marginal increase in foot traffic in Stockland Wetherill Park as a result of this redevelopment. All of the businesses interviewed experienced a decrease in their profit margins during the redevelopment and only Target has experienced an increase above their previous levels as a result of this
