The theme of Nail Soup and “Stone Soup” is the importance of sharing that we have. This them occurs in both the poem and the passage.
In the passage a man, a traveler, came to a woman’s cottage and asked for food and shelter. She said, “....my place is not an inn.” In the poem the soldiers came to the village and asked for food. The villagers gave them firewood to stay warm, but not food as it states in the poem, “All they got was firewood.” In the beginning of both the poem and passage, there were people who needed food, but didn’t receive any.
The main characters in the poem and the passage “tricked” the other people into providing materials needed for a special soup. In
