The high sugar that soda contains weakens the kidneys’ function over time, stresses the body’s ability to process sugar therefore causing diabetes, and it also raises a person’s blood pressure which causes the higher risk for a person to have chronic heart disease. According to Melinda L. Secor, and I quote, “regular consumption, even one or two sodas daily, can add up to health trouble over the long run, whether it is diet soda or regular”. What happened to my dad and my grandfather proves that this is true because they both acquired serious diseases for drinking soda daily since they assumed that it’s fine that it wouldn’t hurt them much if they just drink on or two every day. This is why refraining yourself from drinking soda is important because it will reduce harmful risks to your health. People drink soda because it’s tasty, convenient, and cheap but what they don’t know is that for every soda they consumed they increases the risk towards obesity by 1.6 times. Consumption of soda is a big contribution to obesity because the sugar it contains interacts with people’s genes resulting to gain weight that also associates with other serious health problems. According to Jules Hirsch of Rockefeller University in New York, and I quote “Having many of these genes does not guarantee people will become obese, but if they drink a lot of sugary beverages, 'they fulfill that fate,’”. Like my dad and my grandfather, they weren’t as fat as they are today because they didn’t drink much sodas when they were younger but because of over consumption of soda they became more obese over time. So, cutting soda from your diet will prevent obesity and help you lose weight to have better figure. It will also reduce harmful diseases from occurring due to he reduce amount of sugar entering your
body.
The third reason you should stop drinking soda is to live longer. Drinking soda also damage the body’s cells which affecting them to not function properly resulting to the increase of aging that may lead disease and death. The caffeine that soda contains dehydrates the skin which also contributes to aging. Therefore, an easy and effective way to live longer is to stop drinking soda because it will prevent you from aging faster, lengthen your life span and reduce the risk of disease and death.
So, today I’ve provided you three reasons why you should quit drinking soda, - it will improve your health, maintain a healthy figure and live longer. So, start thinking about practicing a healthy lifestyle by doing simple ways such as avoiding to drink soda.
