Story Analysis: The Locket
The story " The Locket" was predictable because first i thought Octavie's lover Edmond was dead. In the story it made me mad knowing that Octavie was wearing a black dress for her death of Edmond, she took it seriously. Edmond's father told Octavie that ' on such a beautiful spring day one can believe in miracles' and her lover’s father and he asks her to remove her mourning . At first Octavie didn't know what Judge Piller means by that, She had been thinking what Judge Piller said to her. At the end of the story she realize that Edmond was alive, the person who was dead was another soldier who had stolen the locket from him. Judge Piller the ending of the story away because he knew that his son wasn't dead. In the story i felt bad for Octavie because …show more content…
The Locket should have put that Octavie was with Edmond father house and that Edmond came home from the civil war and tell her that he missed her and loves her with all his heart. It would of been a romantic and mystery book. The end of the story was a happy ending because Octavie true love wasn't dead now she could live happy with Edmond and never separate from each other ever again. Octavie probably felt sad about the other solider but relieve that the locket was gone. The priest send her a letter that the locket its's like a curse locket that it's for death. Edmond should of at least wrote a letter to Octavie telling her that he is good and alive but he couldn't he was in the war fighting for the freedom rights of the slaves. Judge Piller was always there for Octavie when she was going through a lot. Octavie knew that Edmond was alive but she couldn't believe because she never got to see but at the end she saw how her lover Edmond was alive she didn't even know what to say but all we know she was happy. In the story the locket is suppose to be a good luck calm so nothing will happen to

This story was very odd but was a good book. The fiction of this story is tied to reality in a very unique way, that is very effective in making the story not feel very fantasy. This feature made the book truly more enjoyable. Other writing techniques like not having any foreshadowing. The book keeps you guessing until the very end. Even within the story parts that I had never seen coming, Like releasing the prince. Allowing Alix to run away and eventually return on curiosity.…

Now in the end we want to live in a world where we all get along. Locke helps supports why Mary should take down the poster, so she will continue to get along with her neighbors. If Mary discards her poster then the tension between the neighbors will eventually disappear and continue to get along. An example of Locke's approach would be gun violence. If we have everyone shooting each other Locke would say to get rid of guns, because then we would stop the violence and get along. If Mary follows Locke and removes the poster from her door then their will peaceful among the two…

The author’s style is used to display the mysterious and unsettling feeling in the novel. The book is told from the point of view of Ginny. Although most assume Death looks like the Grim Reaper or a scary skeleton thing, in The Book Thief, Death is not. In fact, he even tells us what he looks like when he says, “I do not carry a sickle or a scythe. I only wear a hooded black robe when it’s cold. And I don’t have those skull-like facial features you seem to enjoy pinning on me from a distance… Find yourself a mirror while I continue” (Zusak 307). Essentially Death is saying that because all humans die, we all resemble death. Humans can and will die, and thus he is one of the things that is constant between all humans. Due to this reason I drew a man looking into a mirror to show Death. I just…

The conclusion of "The Locket" was not predictable at all. As first reading the book, it was surprising and emotional. It was under the impression, Edmond had died on the battle field. As well it is recalled, that when Octavie sat in the cabriolet, I thought she was on her way to pay respect to Edmond. The author held readers suspense as she describes the details of the battle field before the locket was found, the letter the priest sent, and the ride to Edmond.…

‘The Bloody Chamber’ is a short Gothic story, the sentences are long this is because big ideas are needed to be put across in a short space of time. A lot of information is needed in the sentences to convey the right idea/point to the receiver. Long sentence structure also increases the paced in which the text is read, this makes the reader feel the anxiety/excitement that the narrator is feeling. This nervousness supports the Gothic genre as it creates mystery as to what is going to happen in the rest of the novel. In the first paragraph words such as ‘tender, delicious ecstasy of excitement’ are used, this intensifies and builds excitement for the reader; it is also very sensual. Also ‘burning’ and ‘thrusting’ although used in an innocent way foreshadows the ‘girlhood’ being taken and the fact that she will soon have to consummate the marriage and loose her virginity (AO2). In ‘The Bloody Chamber’ the narrator is a seventeen-year-old girl she is portrayed as being young and naive as she is marrying someone for money and status not love, you can tell this as her mother is constantly asking her ‘are you sure’ (about her marriage) this creates doubt and the intention behind the marriage is questionable. The question is being avoided a lot in the text and the narrator never gives a straight answer or tells her mother or the audience how she truly feels. She states that her mother ‘beggared herself for love’ this has an underlying feeling that she is belittling her mother and trying to make love seem petty and that it can never compete again money. This shows her immaturity in her views of love and money (AO3). Also her being poor and him being rich creates a big diversity, as he owns ‘castle’ and she portray herself as seemingly living in ‘poverty’ and having a ‘meagre table’ this suggests that she has no food. The novel was written in 1979 in this time sexism was still very common…

The song “All I Want” by Kodaline refers to Holden’s feelings toward Phoebe near the end of the book. For example, when Holden is delusional, he thinks he is going to die of pneumonia and says, “...so finally what I figured I’d do, I figured I’d better sneak home and see her, in case I died and all” (Salinger 156). Holden’s one wish before he dies (or so he thinks) was to go see his kid sister Phoebe. Holden has a very close relationship with his sister, and they are both very fond of the other. This mindset is displayed by the members of Kodaline when they sing “‘cause if I could see your face once more/ I could die a happy man I’m sure” (Kodaline). While “All I Want” is admittedly about a romantic relationship and not one of a sibling nature,…

Arising out of the ashes the phoenix came back to life again. In Greek mythology the phoenix is the symbol for idealism and hope. It falls only to arise and live again. The main character of Eudora Welty's short story, "A Worn Path", is much like this phoenix. She must overcome much adversity on her life path. Eudora Welty in "A Worn Path" uses the idea of the phoenix to characterize and symbolize the indomitable spirit of the main character, Phoenix Jackson, who though old, weak, and forgetful can conquer obstacles put in her way as she heads toward her goal.…

The locket was a Drama short story written by Kate Chopin. This story is about a boy named Edmond who lost his locket while he was sleeping. Later in the story you find out it was stolen by a boy he was associated with in the army. The story implies that Edmond has died, because the boy that stole the locket was wearing the locket when he died. When Edmond finally arrived home everyone found out the truth. I personally do not believe this was a predictable ending with how the writer told the story.…

The author also did an amazing job at foreshadowing the end of the book. The whole section of Tessie wanting to draw with her father, and the way she was saying what she did, made her seem to be feared. Another form of foreshadowing, was the children gathering the rocks. Foreshadowing was a great way for the author to hint to the end of the story. The way the story was set up, with not knowing about the stoning until the very end, creates a shocking twist of events.…

    Theme Analysis: Hamlet

    • 979 Words
    • 4 Pages

In William Shakespeare’s Hamlet many of the values, attitudes and critical interpretations stem from his relationships and interactions with other characters such as Claudius, Gertrude and Laertes. This can be explored in the thematic concerns of the dichotomy of action and inaction, social corruption and vengeance with the critical interpretations of late 20th century psychoanalysis and comparison to conventions of a revenge tragedy, specifically Thomas Kyd’s Spanish Tragedy. The prevailing importance of Shakespeare’s Hamlet is due to the textual integrity and universality of its themes to a modern audience.…

It did not feel fictional, and it was made in the old times. If the plot was different, then it would probably not feel interesting as interesting anymore. I chose those two twists because they are more easier to explain in my opinion. It was easy to explain because it was ironic when Dr. Roylott died, and he even tracked down his stepdaughter to know where she was.…
