The Behavioral Health industry is a field that is designed to help people improve the quality of life through behavioral therapy and facilities around the country are established to treat the people in need. The U. S. Dept. of HHS established SAMHSA to allow for an organized method of addressing the mental and substance use issues of the people in the nation. Mental and substance abuse issues are frequently left out of the traditional health care arena, and need dedicated treatment centers and skilled staff members to help the people with their illnesses. In 2011, “approximately 20 million people who needed substance abuse treatment did not receive it and an estimated 10.6 million adults reported an unmet need for mental health care” (SAMHSA, 2012).
