Stream Ecology Results
The data collected from the number of each type of macroinvertebrate was calculated to determine the Modified Family Biotic Index, percent contribution of dominant family, and EPT Index number for each of the three collection sites. The number of organisms and families of macroinvertebrates along with the calculated data can be seen in Table 1. Other sets of data was recorded and compared to test the stream quality at Pricket’s Creek. The water temperatures (°C) were 16.76 ± 2.32 (mean ± St. Dev.) above, 15.50 ± 2.47 at, and 16.18 ± 2.70 below (Figure 1). The dissolved oxygen content values (ppm) were 6.78 ± 3.03 above, 7.88 ± 2.04 at, and 8.15 ± 1.54 below (Figure 2). The pH values were 7.15 ± 0.96 above, 7.88 ± 2.04 at, and 7.46 ± 0.76 below (Figure 3). The conductivity levels (uS/cm) were 377.35 above, 384.51 at, and 251.20 below (Figure 4). The phosphorous levels (ppm) were 0.54 ± 0.55 above, 0.52 ± 0.55 at, and 0.43 ± 0.36 below (Figure 5). The nitrate levels (ppm) were 0.72 ± 0.49 above, 0.64 ± 0.44 at, and 0.89 ± 0.77 below (Figure 6). Fecal coliform values (cfu/mL) were 1.87 ± 2.08 above, 2.63 ± 4.37 at, and 0.96 ± 0.97 below (Figure 7). The final sets of data included FBI, Taxa Richness, EPT Index, % Contribution of dominant family. The FBI values were 3.3 ± 0.53 above, 6.01 ± 0.64 at, and 3.63 ± 1.4 below (Figure 8). Taxa Richness values were 16.86 ± 3.44 above, 16.28 ± 2.43 at, and 16.28 ± 2.43 below (Figure 9). EPT Index values were 48.55 ± 9.09 above, 29.61 ± 8.69 at, and 37.68 ± 17.14 below (Figure 10). % Contribution of Dominant Family values were 18.12 ± 8.01 above, 18.87 ± 4.55 at, and 18.92 ± 8.29 below (Figure 11)
