Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Msw Program
Education is a great method for individuals to obtain creditable and educational sources to further their career. I want to expand my knowledge in the MSW program with the concentration on children, youth and families. I have enjoyed working with this population since some of my first volunteer experiences. I have decided to continue this profession because I want to make a positive difference in the lives of others, be a bridge for transformation, and enjoy the feeling of satisfaction when I know I have helped others succeed. By continuing my education I will challenge myself in finding strategies and be successful with the work I do.
Growing up in a small city with a big family and being the minority was a difficult time. As a child, I was

Making a positive impact to help the individual work towards a common goal is gratifying. When you guide them in overcoming their obstacles and challenges, it helps them gain control of their life and gives them a glimpse of hope for the future.
In addition, the MSW program will help me to guide individuals on how to identify issues and overcoming challenges. One of my goals is to encourage them to recognize their abilities and skills, and use it to their benefit, maximizing their potential. I believe once an individual recognizes their strengths and weaknesses; it will make them a stronger person.
To be successful, it takes both education and experience. I hope to gain adequate knowledge to obtain a career so I can help others transform their lives proficiently. After graduation, I want to gain a deeper awareness of social services and develop more practical skills and tools in empowering individuals. I also hope to work with an agency that specializes with families. When working for any agency, I look for reputation, leadership, and meeting my needs. Reputation is really important, as I want to know that the families are benefiting from the services. Having a supervisor who can lead their team is a great asset to my personal and professional goals. I also hope to supervise and lead a team of my own and revise program policies. Most importantly, I hope to work for an organization that will also meet my

Deciding what populations and types of clients with whom I want to work with, in the field of social work, is one of the most important decisions ever, regarding my career. From as early as childhood, I have always known that I want to work with children in whatever career path I embarked on. After deciding education and teaching was not the career I wanted to choose as my forever career, I always envisioned myself being a child and family social worker. I feel so comfortable with this population because I have always felt a need to want to improve the quality of life for families and children. I did not have the best childhood-due to experiencing homelessness, addictions and having to mature at an early age, but I knew the warm feeling that I received when my family was together and thriving was the best. According to the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Work (NASW), “the primary mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well-being and help meet the basic human needs of all people, with particular attention to the needs and empowerment of people who are vulnerable, oppresses, and living in poverty” (NASW 2010). Children are one of the most vulnerable and helpless beings in the world, so they need someone to fight for them. This is the population is where I feel I can help to enhance the social functioning of children and families the most.…

There are many reasons why I chose a profession in the social work field. Some of the reasons why I chose to work in this area stem from my childhood experiences. As a child, I was pretty much on my own, my parents were pretty much absent and I had to take care of myself and sometimes them, I also took care of my siblings. The only teacher I had to encourage me was my 7th grade Social Studies teacher, Mr. Schaal, (he was killed in a car wreck after I started high school) with no guidance, I began to get into trouble. I had to grow up fast, so I always was the “motherly” figure among my group of friends (although I did let them talking me into things).…

I am proud of the long way that I have come from when I was younger. I’ve learned many things over the years and me being a minority, I had to learn and experience things that other adolescents might not have had to. I think it can be said that almost every minority goes through some type of discrimination. I, myself, have have experiences of discrimination with maybe the most notorious example of being followed or closely monitored in the store. My parents always told me that I have to work twice as hard to get to what someone else barely prepared for. There are so many stereotypes associated with women such as being less qualified than men. There are also stereotypes associated with African-Americans such as being less educated and less intelligent…
